Against Bonavena ,Ali looked sloppy and Jose Torres agreed with that.

We never saw Ali's prime it would have been during his exile.Angelo Dundee concurs with that.

Ali retreated to the ropes against Frazier, because he did not have full confidence in his stamina.

A more active Ali beat Frazier second time around.Frazier was 30

    Ali was only 29?

    Q. How old was Frazier when Foreman wrecked him?
    A. 29!
The premise that Frazier was shot after FOTC is Horse **** imo.

He looked fine in his rematch with Quarry, and his performance in Manila blows that old chestnut out of the water, imo

    We fundamentally disagree.
But hey, that's what forums are for!
The Ali of 68-70 we never saw.

I suspect it would have been almost supernatural.

Enter Wepner who had Ali bawlin’ like a baby, the same Wepner 3fight novice George dispatched in a few rounds…what grade was U in then?

The question for me has always been. Had Ali been allowed to continue he would likely have tangled with Frazier in late '68 or early '69.

Would Ali, on a three defense a year schedule, been in such a zone that he would have cut Frazier to ribbons, or would he have looked past him, appearing at the fight not ready, and getting surprised?

We know the schedule he was on was begging for a hiccup. Frazier would have been the guy to do it.

But a focus Ali in '69 proves too much for Fazier.

Ali trained on the ropes. He was born lazy. He stated if he could go 5 straight rounds on the hvy bag he was in shape. I once went 27+ straight rounds just a minute short of 28rds as an ol' man and could've gone more.

Ali was 29. At that age I had been two serious motorcycle accidents with serious injuries that I recovered from and was in overall ferocious condition. Ali worst problem age 29 was his hernia operation for the Liston rematch.

Joe was an absolute workhorse type of personality and fighter also suffered farm injuries that left him with a crooked left arm.

I never bought in Ali save for his entertainment value. Seen him get beat up too many x like the first Chuvalo fight in Canada where Chuvalo took the fight on short notice and beat up Ali's body on the ropes so bad that Ali ended up in the hospital while George went out Dancing with his wife.

OK, we get you know next to nothing about conditioning or boxing history...c'est la vie...

You sure you recovered from those injuries?lol

Ali was 22 when he had his hernia op in November 1964

Having boxed for nearly two decades I have some knowledge of conditioning.
Like wise I have been following the sport since I was ten, practising it,watching it, reading about it ,and collecting films of it,I'm no expert, but I flatter myself I have some understanding of it ,and its history.

              Chuvalo beat up Ali's body?

Here are the score cards of the fight.Referee: 73-65
              • Judge: 74-63
              • Judge: 74-62
              • Unofficial Associated Press Card: 73-62

Frazier would always be problematical for Ali,and,on the night of FOTC ,Joe achieved true greatness as a pugilist.

He use to be on my friends list. Did the do away with that feature? Could have sworn I saw him a couple of months ago on here. Hard to keep track of everyone.
