    Eddie Futch Top 10

    - - Eddie Futch's Best Champions:

The March 4, 1991 issue of contained Futch's list of the 10 best champions he has handled, along with his comments:
    • 1. "The greatest heart of all, he fought from bell to bell. Every trainer should have one Joe Frazier in his life."
    • 2. "Unorthodox, but he could adapt perfectly to any opponent."
    • 3. "A thinking fighter who tears you up downstairs, then pulls your teeth."
    • 4. "He learned from his mistakes, and he was always in great condition."
    • 5. "All the tools in the world. You could put him on course, and he stayed on it."
    • 6. "My first champ, in 1958, he was an excellent boxer who never reached his potential."
    • 7. "A boxing master. When he sparred, other fighters would come to watch."
    • 8. "Tall and skinny, he doesn't look the part, but he finds a way."
    • 9. "He moves so well, and when he's on, he controls everything in the ring."
    • 10. "Such range and strength. He could move and box, but, my, what a punch."

He also coached Bowe, Norton, McCullough, Arguello and several others. One of the best in the business.

Are we sure he's not overrated; trained in the weakest era ever; cherry picked his fighters' opponents; didn't train internationally; was a SB stooge; and you crazy idiots he has an old not modern style, no angles.

Do we have any film of him training, so how can you possibly know?

        You blind crazy idiots.

        ‐‐-‐-----‐---------------------

Yea, I'm just being a prick, but that is how some of you guys go at it.

I 'hate' him because I wanted Ali to win The Fight.

Never routed for Ali in any other fight he ever had but for some reason in The Fight I wanted Ali redeemed and damn Futch got Frazier really ready for that fight so he gets part of the blame for Ali's loss.

P.S. Anyone know if Lefty actually got banned or is he playing that game I use to play, where you write in "banned" yourself so no one knows if you are actually banned or just on vacation?

I don't remember reading anything heated written by him but then he was gone. Hope he is well.

billeau2 billeau2 DeeMoney DeeMoney like this.

All are in the IBHOF save for Marlon Starling (It's just a matter of time), Hedgemon Lewis (Superb boxer unfortunate to overlap with the incomparable Jose Napoles), Mo Blocker (Worked in a loaded era), and this amazing guy:

                - - Probably Eddie smarter than lineal 2 dimension top 10 "'perts," but I'm certain on several occasions he set forth his opinions on Ali that would be quite enlightening.

In the meantime, while Pep say witches only used to exist at best, we have voluminous proof that at least one Vitch does exist, so this throwback for him when young Clay could flick the pimples off him:
