Johnson couldn’t fight in NY, he knew the Jeannette fight would never be made. It was more showmanship.

Jeannette had less than 20 fights when he fought his last match with Johnson. As he got bigger, stronger and better Johnson was sure to steer clear. History won’t change because you think you have insight to what was going on over 100 years ago that no one else has.

Johnson took a fight for well less than $5K the same year he turned down Jeannette’s $20k, the end.

- - Narrative is multi sources with different descriptions, but seen the existent footage in the day and Tommy was the aggressor with JJ doing a lot of holding and clowning. Yeah, Tommy got clocked, but never seemed hurt and never stopped trying to take the fight to JJ that was the only way to win a decision in those days until Ali introduced the run and stink style that Americans took to.

And remember how the fight was heavily doctored with rounds out of place such that the last footage makes it seem like Tommy was finished. Only in boxing can this stuff happen. See Cooper/Ali 1 for how that works...oh wait, never mind...pearls cast before swine yet again!

We hear how JJ did the same to Hart such that the ref warned him to start fighting or else, but he never changed tactics and lost the decision. Then Burns whooped Hart who had won the vacant title by beating Root.

I would never tell anyone not to use the ignore feature. But it doesn't keep the ignored poster(s) from still trolling your threads anymore, and you will see them as long as others have quoted their comments. Besides, kicking Queenie around is enjoyable for the most part. Sure, he is a troll who doesn't back things up and will twist and even lie to try and make some imaginary point, but every once in awhile he will cast pearls of wisdom as he likes to so often say. At the end of the day I'd only suggest you do what's best for you, for your peace of mind. Besides, like yourself there are some very good posters to learn from here. Every once in awhile (why I don't ignore Queenie) I like to be the smartest person in the conversation.
