Honestly you need to ask yourself if you have high iq... Is algebra/math your favorite subject? If not, forget poker coz it's not for you.. Calculating pot odds is very inportant..
The easiest way to learn is to download a table what cards to use under the gun, middle position, late position..these are very tight hands, once you get the hang of it, you can widen your range..

i never play one, dont know the rules
but i got a question, i used to play this game the rules is :
- you pick a cards till you reach 30, if you get past 30 you're out. J,Q,K is 10 and A is 1
- if you reach 30 with only three cards on your hand you win double
- if you reach 30 or below with 7 cards or more on your hand you win triple
What's that game called???Last edited by betmen; 08-05-2014, 08:35 AM.

Pot/bet odds is the basic and MOST important thing in poker..it's your guide when to chase flush, an open ended gut shot straight, etc...
This is the biggest mistake of beginner player... They will chase their nut flush even if the odds are not right...this is the mistake of the worst players who will buy in minimum and play speculative hands and call a raise 1/4 to 1/2 their stack...

some examples:
ive bought into wsop main event x2
wsop heads up holdem event
several more wsop and ept events
i play mostly online
biggest mistake by beginners is playing too many starting hands
chasing a flush is 9 outs thats around 36% , e.g. you cbet 5 into 7 and get raised to a standard size such as 18 , pot is now 30 , you need 13 more to call, you are clearly getting better odds than you need
in holdem you are rarely folding a nut flush draw contrary to what you posted
and yea if its half your stack, you just go all in
stack size obviously does matter in other situations, gotta factor in implied odds
------------------------------------------------------
if you are a beginner, trust me pot odds are not very important, as long as you know the basics
you are likely leaking money playing too many starting hands, and peeling too light postflop but not nut flush draws like above poster said, the nut flush draw is a very strong hand
if you are jus starting out playing , i would suggest playing sit and goes - less complicated than cash
