But of course we are all impacted by what the US does. So in this instance for all the seemingly aggressive foreign policy and trade wars. What they are really doing is extracating themselves from everyone! That seems blindingly obvious and has been from the start.

I mean it is not ideal seeing the States complete lack of diplomacy because nobody is used to it. But the pathway is there - it's just that they are being blunt and unpleasant about it because presumably it is far more important to appeal to their electorate who like this kind of thing than to maintain any sort of decorum and goodwill from, well, basically the whole world, lol.

It is important to remember that despite a weirdly softening narrative the US still have their nuclear arsenal primed and ready at a moments to wipe Russia off the map like they have had done for every single waking moment for the best part of 80 years. Isn't it mad to think that that has never changed? So the idea that the US is somehow partnering with Russia is obviously absolute s.hite. I can't imagine that will ever change now from now until one of them actually does the unthinkable and starts the end of the world or a solar flare or whatever the f.uck melts the planet.

      No question. Weird times.

Is it a lack of diplomacy or the ending of DEM we will give you X,Y, and Z and let you rip us off diplomacy?

Team Trump and the excellent Rubio can make nice better with optics, I grant you that.

Well ultimately it doesn't really matter but I'd equate it with a workplace scenario.

If you had to have meetings, sporadically, with someone who held the balance of power in that deal, and that was someone like JD Vance there is just no way you wouldn't think he's a bit of a pr.ick.

At the same time it is always said Trump values personal relationships hence why Britain are keen for him to have a relationship with the King and even speak about the Commonwealth because they know that appeals to Trump's idea of pomp and ceremony.

I'd imagine Britain will still remain a closeish ally because the countries are bound in a lot of ways security and intelligence wise and their trade relationship is balanced. Then again who knows anymore.

The US could still hit us with tariffs and could even turn around and refuse to help with maintenance and parts on the vanguards. And take away Britain's nuclear deterant forcing them spend huge amounts of money we dont have on a new one and bounding us up with Europe again as it would be the UK and Germany funding it and France intelligence sharing. That would just be weird.

So it's not like they will do that but the suggestion now is that they could do anything to secure some sort of advantage even though Britain would likely imply to do so might compromise US national security if Russia became more aggressive toward Britain.

The implication is purely there from the words of Vance - regarding his questions about our freedom of speech and the suggestion we might be cultivating a domestic British m.uslim extremist ppopulation and also his rubbishing of UK being involved in recent conflict (though he retracted this.)

So it is making everyone pivot a lot and ultimately it is uncomfortable for everyone.

To me, it just seems to have supercharged the whole political landscape.

I mean this might all be great for the US long-term it is either gonna go one way or the other.

But I can't really see how it is good for us.

But this is the new game. It's wild stuff.

You don't have a man in a suit going there. You have a tribal person go there and pitch the USA.

Some Inuit tribesmen from Alaska. Picture this, he dresses and speaks the language. Telling them how great the USA is, and it would be great to unite the people under one flag.

They can have the Alaska vs. Greenland dog sled races, play ice games (curling ) and ice fishing contests with the winner getting ivory walrus tusks for knives, and polar bear pelts ( you have a needle gun and shave them when the drug takes effect ). My money is on Alaka to win! After the games, you smoke a peace pipe. And after that bring some women, which would be, how I say it... much more attractive than what they have. And food, don't forget to bring a feast for all to have.

Then you offer them more money and security than the Danes.

It won't be that hard to get a deal with the natives. I have already emailed Rubio.

There is no way the Greenlanders would want to become part of the United States.

that is the long term damage of imposing tariffs and making threats etc, also might push people more towards china who seem to make less demands on their partners
