This is an easy issue to manipulate. Playing to his base with identity politics with the hope he’ll be the choice if Trump doesn’t run.

Probably will work too. These kind of cheap media grabs have a weird way of galvanizing the far right.

His declaration is worthless. Not like the real winner was changed.

Even the swimmer he declared the winner wouldn’t comment. Good for her. Sure she’s upset she lost but she doesn’t want to be attached to this garbage.
You defending this shit isn't a good look for you pal.

Men should not be allowed to compete in female sports, end of discussion.

      I didn’t defend anything.

I posted This is a dumb ass media ploy- which it clearly is-designed to incite angry idiots of his base.

Like I posted, the woman he declared the winner didn’t even comment. She wants nothing to do with this garbage.

That is your opinion. Others feel it’s ok for trans women to compete. Some of us don’t care either way.

No. She just doesn’t want to be part of this type of garbage.

Now I saw the woman that finished 9th spoke out about this. This woman, that finished 2nd, didn’t.

Imo neither is wrong and both are allowed their opinions.

It is very possible she is ok competing against trans women and doesn’t see it as men taking over the sport.

Whether she sees it as men taking over the sport or not doesn't matter, that's what is happening. Trans women are men, you can pretend they aren't and call them "Trans women", that's just another word made up for men who don't want to be called men

Actually it does. If she isn’t bothered by it, and doesn’t see it that way, then you don’t get to force your opinions on her or anyone else.

If they choose to be called trans women, I’m going to call them that. I don’t agree with their choice of gender reassignment surgery, but I’m not going to disrespect them as human beings just because.

But that is a separate issue.

All I reacted to was this media ploy, why I think he did it, how it didn’t change the official results of the race, and how the athlete he declared the winner didn’t show up for this event nor did she comment afterwards.

I’m not heavily invested in the issue of trans women competing in women’s sports. My daughter plays volleyball. She doesn’t seem to care either. But that is a team sport, not an individual one like swimming so there is a difference.

I suspect that she would care if her place on the team was taken by a man, especially if she's playing at a high standard.

and let’s be honest why Weyant hasn’t commented, it’s because of fear of being vilified and cancelled by the left… possibly losing her spot in the team and her scholarship.

This picture here tells you everything you need to know how she feels about the situation.

Who is forcing an opinion on her? She can believe what she wants. If she is fine with competing against men then ok. The TRUTH is that she's still competing against men. The truth isn't subjective and whatever you want it to be. It's either the truth or it isn't, and the truth is that she is competing against a man

If they want to be called "Trans women" then that's on them. The thing about it is they can't force people to cater to their mental illness or expect anyone to change truths or engage in their fantasy if they don't want to.

I have no problem with him announcing that he thinks the actual female is the real winner, but as you said it is odd the female he is talking about didn't show up or comment on it. That still doesn't change the fact that a man won in a women's event, which is the real issue.

I have a daughter that competes in gymnastics (to which we pay a lot of money for). Boys compete as well, but of course it is against other boys. They even have different events. If they were to start allowing males to compete against her I would take issue with it and she would as well because she knows the difference between boys and girls

Not necessarily. Young people in Gen Z don’t all feel the same way about this issue primarily because many don’t see them as men as you and others discussing in this thread do.

Some do- like the woman who finished 9th. She lost out on being an all American and was rightfully upset.

Let’s be real- none of you really care about or watch women’s swimming or sports in general, unless you have a daughter or family member that participates.

Many gravitated toward this issue because expressing outrage and anger about change on the Internet is their passion.

DeSantis knows this so he found a way to trigger his base with identity politics.

He best be careful. This could impact tourism and make the ncaa take away tournaments. It could also impact aau tournaments from using Florida facilities.

Again there are many people that disagree with you. No offense but if you’re someone that believes gender is a social construct then she isn’t a man.

Calling it a mental illness harkens back to the early 1900’s when things were labeled that way solely for political reasons. As of 2 or 3 years ago the WHO officially stopped calling this a mental disorder.

It isn’t odd Rip. This is a ****** ass media ploy meant to trigger his idiot base. Anyone, especially that young woman, can see it. I can’t fathom any rational person would want to be attached to this is.

Maybe her mindset is she’s a true competitor she accepted the loss and moved on.

also, It’s very possible she supports Lia, feels she’s a woman, and has no issue competing against her.

( my daughter did as well when she was younger. Very expensive) I completely understand you taking that position. That is an individual sport so I get that.

I’m not saying you’re wrong. What I’m saying is if the women competing don’t have an issue, why should anyone else?

Notice the people pushing this are the politicians. That should tell you all you need to know.
