  • [HOLY S**T!] Xbox One is removing all restrictions!

Microsoft has changed its policies regarding Xbox One’s internet requirement, used game restrictions and more. Contrary to the details announced earlier this month, Microsoft has now confirmed news originally reported on Giant Bomb that Xbox One will no longer require an internet connection to play offline games or need to check in every 24 hours; instead, internet will only be required when initially setting up the console. Like on Xbox 360, "playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray."

Xbox One will also no longer restrict used games, and will instead allow discs to be exchanged in the same way they are on Xbox 360 with no additional restrictions for trade-ins or lending games to friends. The system is also no longer be region locked and all downloaded games will function the same way whether your console is connected or not.

Microsoft's decision follows mass confusion following the announcement of Xbox One in May. At E3 last week, Sony announced similar policies for PlayStation 4, which will not require an internet connection or periodic authentication and does not restrict used games.

A good start, now all they need to do is remove the requirement to always have the new kinect connected and release a launch model without it at the same price as PS4 and they'll be able to compete with PS4.

I'm going to wait this might be a ruse by Microsoft. I'm also leery about supporting a company that would even consider doing the crap that they want to do.

Haha jesus christ the IGN comments section for that article is blowing up, like 100 comments a minute.

This is pretty cool though, I am a 360 owner who was gonna convert to PS4 but now I have a decision to make. I probably lean more towards XB1 exclusives, Metal Gear Solid 5 would be my main reason for going to Sony but now that it's multi-platform XB1 exclusives wins pretty easily for me.

Wish the console itself wasn't so butt-ugly though.
