Fighting an older and smaller guy doesn't give him too much to celebrate. If finally Canelo fights him, for sure it will be the end of the charade. Canelo will destroy him!

I don’t know what you are talking about when you mention Ryan Garcia and Errol Spence. I commented about Demetrius Andrade, who you said went out on his shield last night. He did not.

we need to bring back fight night weights to see whats what i would say, plenty of surprises to discover about guys weights in the ring on the night, it is after all a sport based on weight

Andrade wasted so much energy making weird movements in the ring, by the time he got knocked down, he'd already blasted through his reserves. And that's pretty much it for Andrade. Much like his career, he fought hard but fought ******, and when big opportunities arrived, he ran/quit on his stool. I see him as a gatekeeper at best, if not retirement.

Andrade did not quit. His corner stopped the fight. You could even see and hear when it happened. The Ref was telling his corner that he wasn't going to watch another round like the previous one and the cornerman told him to go ahead and stop it. Jt was a wise decision, Andrade was in bad shape and it was only going to get worse for him.

He sat on his stool and allowed the fight to be called. His mind was clear and his body wasn’t broken. You say it was a smart decision to go out meekly in the biggest fight of his career, and that’s fine. Not everybody would agree..

I never thought much of Andrade either. He pretty moved through his career avoiding prove it fights until he could get a big name. When he finally stepped up, he was 35 and too passed it to face a younger stronger fighter. Hearing Andrade after the fight, it was interesting to hear him push the "smaller fighter" agenda when he himself claimed he couldn't make 160 anymore (his reason for not fighting Yanibeck).

That's why I don't get why these fools cry when they hear rehydration clause. Too many of these dudes fight out of their weight-classes, it ridiculous.

The narrative about boxing "skills" is out of whack. Yes, Andrade (and people like Shakur) can move, make you miss, throw flurries of combinations, etc. but boxing "skills" are a variety of things (speed, timing, punch selection, rolling with punches, power, cutting of the ring, toughness, heart, etc etc etc) with the most important being do you beat your opponents and - even if you don't win - are you competitive. People (including Demetrius) were saying Andrade has more skills than Plant, for instance. But Caleb was more competitive against David, therefore he has more skills. I know the Benavidez that showed up last night vs the one the fought Plant very well could have stopped Plant. But, Plant was competitive with Canelo, too. I can't see Andrade giving Canelo fits the way Caleb did. Anyway, the point of this post is NOT about Caleb Plant. I'm just using him as an example of how different supposed skills play out in reality, not theory. Let's give props to Benavidez because that dude has MAJOR skills. I hope he fights Canelo next - in May. I've felt for a while now that David beats Canelo. After this fight, that feeling is bordering on belief. Let's find out!
