Would any one get excited about an old World Cup or an old football game? It is just not the same thing seeing something years later vs being there. I agree with your point.
The suspense factor changes a lot of things. Hearns's legs went spaghetti late in round 1. His legs were rubbery the rest of the way, and Hagler took over. The cut provided a bigger danger for Hagler to lose than Hearns at that point, who was getting tagged with some consistency.

But this is after watching it a couple times and analyzing.

I didn't see it live, but those that did, I'm sure some viewers saw what was happening and that Hagler was taking over. But others could've thought "Hearns was getting the **** kicked out of him by Leonard in the 7th and later won the 9th thru the 12th, maybe he can do the same here....maybe he'll open that cut even more".

Not knowing the results changes the excitement level SSOOO much.

Even a fight like Mayweather-DLH, which is ridiculed all the time for its lack of excitement, didn't bore me when it happened, and I wasn't disapointed. Of course I had very low expectations of it so that helped, and I was drunk. But there was the suspense factor of a pretty competitive fight, so when I saw it, I was adequately entertained and intrigued. Now the replay factor.....that's a different story.

Same for Quartey-De La Hoya. 10 rounds of that fight was pretty ****ty, but it was different when I watched it live, not knowing what would happen.

It takes a truly boring and crappy fight to not keep me interested when it happens live.

It depends on whom is doing the rating.

I mean you've got people who say it's the best, most action packed fight ever, or in the top 3 or whatever.

If you ignore the event factor and just look at action and drama, and compare it to other great fights in history, Hagler-Hearns doesn't even come close.

But you see, I was very DISAPOINTED in the ODLH vs PBF fight. I knew that Floyd was going to punk out and I knew that ODLH was shot and way past his A game. All that trash that Floyd talked about what he was going to do to ODLH, was nothing more than utter bullshiet, I knew he was not going to do anything to ODLH. Come to think of it, at the end of the fight, Floyd had a mouse under his eye and ODLH had one tiny scratch of his face. Floyd could have done to ODLH what Manny Pacquiao did to ODLH but Floyd like the coward and thief that he is still got paid for not doing his job and I hated that. One should not get paid huge ammounts of money for not giving it his all in the ring. We were conned. I wasnt conned though cus I know Floyd's punk ass.

when people compare this to a big upcoming fight i think "oh nooo! it better last more than 3 rounds"

some of you speak as if tho i said the fight ******. did you guys not read the part where i thanked them for that great first round? but it gets a little overrated. i could list the fights that will smash on hagler vs hearns.

Please start your list so we can agree or disagree with you. When making your list please give details and examples or don't even bother posting anything at all but I am very interested in your list of fights that smash Hagler/Hearns. There are HISTORIANS that have this fight ranked up there as the best three rounds in boxing. Are you some kind of historian? One we have yet to hear from? Drop the list. Thank you.

My expectations were so low, I wasn't bothered by it, until I found out exactly how many main****** fans watched it.

Still I think DLH was definitely better that night against PBF than against Pacquiao. I had never expected DLH to go back to 147 and even (on another board) started a thread saying how DLH's talk about going back to 147 was b.s. and how he would never really do it. I didn't count on a Pacquiao fight so he had to go back to WW to get the fight, so I was wrong about that, but still, he looked like a zombie. His defensive reflexes and parrying was sharp against PBF and it turned to **** against Pac. There's only so much I can attribute that to Pac and to styles (southpaw). I think that was the night DLH went from "past his prime" to "shot".
