I hate the way people confuse using superior boxing technique and skills as cowardly fighting.

An intelligent boxer is usally not liked by the non purists.

A dumb brawler usually is.

I mentioned first of all, that I said coward to gain attention and for lack of a better term. But that's really a moot point. I said nothing of a brawler OR a beautiful technical boxer. I said man and coward. I don't have the confusion. Willie Pep is one of my favorite fighters ever. So is Whitaker. I like Mayweather, for that matter.

Depends on your defenition of coward. Is boxing like Sweet Pea, Pep, Ali (early years), Benitez considered cowardly or masterful boxers? I tend to go with the latter.

I wouldn't call any professional prize fighter a coward but what I respect the least are fighters that just holding on and on and on and on while not hurt but juicing the clock or literally running like DLH did for last 6 rounds vs Tito or Dirrell did vs Stevens.

Because in my opinion a "coward"; some one who does not want to fight, will not win a boxing match.

Let me map out exactly what happens in the two choices:

1. Winning like a coward - You run your ass off, protecting a lead that you got by landing punches with no power. You break the record for limiting your opponent to the least number of connects in history. You get a W on your record and your face and body hurt less than anyone's face or body has hurt after any professional prizefight... ever.

2. Losing like a man - You get your ****ing ass kicked, possibly knocked unconscious by a head shot that is going to give you a headache for the next few days at least, or a body shot that is going to have you pissing red for a while. On top of having your body totally destroyed in the process, you don't even get a ****ing win for your troubles. So you get your ass kicked and you get moved down in the rankings of boxing.

Anyone who picks losing like a man is an idiot. Sorry, but it's true. If you are faced with those two, and those two options only, you HAVE to pick the one that involves winning, and not getting hurt.

Losing like a man doesn't have to mean takin shots, it can mean comin forward and dictatin policy in the ring! and if I have to lose, then I'd rather lose being the boss! if thats ******, I hate to see what you consider SMART!

Obviously any one who would win as a coward is a ***.

Any real man...that is one with 2 testicles...remember those things that hang down between your legs will realise that his is an OPEN OBVIOUS question. Winning in a sport with superior skill and mobility and movement and counterpuching is not being a coward. If you smash him in the face (and body) more than he did to you... you are no coward.. period...

Coward is someone like Andre Dirrell, before his last fight. That's a coward, when your actions/movements can't be called ACTUAL defense, but you do JUST enough to win. That's a.... 'not so brave' thing to do.

You can also lose like a man even with superior boxing skills. Guys like winky, sweet pea, Calzaghe and Ray Leonard are/were all superior boxers but never won like cowards and always lost like men. Defensive wizards but were always in range to throw combos all fight long. Never potshotting as they back up the way floyd, malignaggi, guzman or luevano. Guzman literally ran like a coward in his win against soto. His biggest win to date. There is no honor in winning like that and it doesnt earn you any fans
