Nino Benvenuti
Went 64-0 as a Jr. MW before being jobbed of his title in South Korea.
Went 2-1 with in an Emile Griffith trilogy.
Traded KDs with Griffith; two-for-two. (The boys fought.)
Benvenuti-Griffith I was Ring Magazine's Fight of the Year 1967.
Kept the game alive during the Ali punishment years with exciting Saturday matinees.
Created a generation of Italian-American boxing fans, (included).
During his MW Champion years (3) he fought eight different Ring Magazine top ten fighters.
Lost his title to a fighter who today is on every historian's top five MWs list.
P.S. Had Monzon (fight 1) on the ropes in the 10th round. The only time I ever saw Monzon at bay; maybe even scared.Last edited by Willie Pep 229; Yesterday, 05:30 PM.
