But I actually think that Greb is the ATG middle judging by the number of awesome fighters that he beat including the far bigger Tunney.

The rest take your pick, Monzon, Hagler, Hopkins etc.

Robinson was the ATG welter followed by Ray and Tommy (at least HTH).

But on that night against LaMotta at middle he was probably fighting at the last of his true prime - and was absolutely superb.
Reedy Robinson was never a big middleweight. He could have fought comfortably at Jr middle for most of his career had it existed then. Marvin was carved in black marble, and squeezed in at the limit cut to the bone.

Agree. 'Reedy' Ray got bullied by Basilio who was only a welter himself. Had he not caught Fullmer with a perfect hook he would likely have been 0-3-1 against him.

Hagler did have a weakness. Fighters could draw him into fighting 'their' fight.

Duran neutralized Hagler's power by making him come to him; SRL made him box instead of fight; and Marvin didn't have a clue what to do with the crude Antuefermo, twice.

I could see SRR work Hagler the way a matador works a bull. At times Hagler looked simply comfused with Leonard.

But anyone who thinks this is a slam dunk, either way, has a dog in the fight.

This fight is a pick-um whether fought in 1980 or 1950, six ounce gloves or eight, any size ring, 10, 12, or 15 rounds. Still a pick-um.

This is yet another of the facts that make SRR amazing.

Marvin moves better, is fatster, tighter defense, punches harder, and can switch fro orthodox to southpaw without missing a beat. This is no walkover for Robinson. In fact I think this is a 50/50 fight that could go either way.
Much less the fact that Robinson beat him more than a few times! Plus when he fought Fullmer he was really twilight, forget when he fought Basillio... With that said Robinson in or near prime on any given day could beat anyone at middle, with the caveat he was much more beatable at Middle than at Welter. Some of us think he was even better at light weight... a scary thought indeed.

Isn't there a tiny bit of footage of Robby as a welterweight?

                    - - Can't remember his name, but I saw limited footage of him against a highly regarded Lefty which is highly unusual...
