And he was ranked again in the 90''s after beating the guy Mercer pleaded with while losing to let him win. Even going so far as trying to btibe him. Then Holmes easily outboxed Mercer. Your recollection of fights is terrible.
Do you think Mercer was really trying to bribe Ferguson or was he trying to con him?

It sure was obvious (audio) no doubt.

I think he was desperate. Would he have actually paid up? I don't know. But he saw that payday with Bowe (am I remembering correctly?) going up in smoke. He was certainly ill prepared that night and fought like it.

        - - Yo, Croaky, when we who study these things talked about the inanity of Ring publishing their year end rankings in the forward year, hence George wasn't ranked in 1977 when he fought Jimmy Young. When the rankings came out and Lar finds out he's now ranked, George is retired.

I'm sure U minder 'splained that to U umpteen Xs. Mercer came within seconds of offing Tubby Lar in a one armed choke. Mercer was by then a well known thug and so the suits felt insulted by allowing him to repeated mock Lar.

U and Lar must share that massive inferiority complex that compels your drooling.

I wish someone would post all the monthly Ring Magazine rankings. We know they exist.

The annual rankings are always a reflection of the past, when they were published. It does confuse things.

Nope, wrong again. Ring ranking are compiled at the end of the year and don't come out until the March issue. George fought and lost to Young in March of '77, meaning they were in FACT rated at the same time. Holmes was rated after beating Roy Williams in March of '76. Come on now Queenie, you need to do better.

Ray Boom Boom Mancini Jr vs Henry Arroyo. Two Youngstown OH boys.

I liked both these guys a lot and always wondered how their paths never crossed professionaly. Arroyo for a tall range fighter had a really nice body attack. I don't think he would have had enough to keep Boom Boom of him though. Late stoppage or close but unanimous decision for Mancini.

Foremans last fight against Young was in March of 77, you nitwit. I mean you can go see the ratings yourself if you weren't so drunk and lazy.
