Back in the 1980s when I used to read the rags, the wags would say, "When a fighter knocks out an opponent in the first fight, he'll knock him out quicker in the rematch."

What do you guys think, is this a maxim?

Or is wrong?

If true it could prove a good over-under bet if you like to bet on the fights.

It's wrong. Tommy was damaged, worn out from.all the wars and weight hopping and due to his incredible heart should have got the verdict over Ray.

Here is an analogy: Technical analysis in stock trading looks at graphs to make conclusions. But the graph does not really tell us about the future... As a matter of fact, you can look at a security and see different graphs of different periods of time, and the same security will show very different graphs.

When we assume a pattern it is always based on the past... This includes the statement you are questioning.

Surely the Louis Schmeling rematch is the perfect example - although I still have su*****ons about Joe being able to fracture Max's spine.

That seems almost impossible without undoctored gloves.

The stakes could not have been higher after all.
