    Sullivan v Kilrain by the $$

    DISCLAIMER: I am not sure how good these numbers are but there is little info available. (Most info from Wikidata)

    Sullivan-Killrain --> 8 July 1889, Richburg MS.

    6K --> Viewed the Fight
    3.8K -->Tickets Sold

    ($11 --> Average Price Per Ticket, my factoring)

    $42,000 --> Box Office
    $20,000 --> Fees

    $45K --> Sullivan's Purse
    $26K --> Sullivan's Purse (source: Mississippi Encyclopaedia)

    Do these numbers look real to you?

    Does $11 per ticket sound correct? (Inflation calculators only start in 1913.)

    Did Sullivan actually walk away with $45K?

    Did the Mississippi Encyclopaedia purse ($26K) leave off the side bet?

    Did Kilrain get anything?

    I think I understand what the "Fee" is; put up dollars by the fighters. Usually a winner take all deal. (WTA)

    If the (WTA) $20K all goes to Sullivan's, then he only got $25K of the susposed $42K from the Box Office.

    I am curious how they pulled off big LPR (bare knuckle) fights, money wise.

    No stadiums, hostile police, Etc. How do you build a crowd?

    Richburg Mississippi was not a booming metropolis; 100 miles north of New Orleans.

    Anyone got deeper knowlege on the battle monies for this fight, or any bare knuckle go?
