Nothing about your "feelings" changes that fact. The low blow rule prohibits strikes to ANYTHING below the line. That could include the hips, for instance. Was it specifically designed to protect the hips? No, because that's a ****** argument. It's black and white. If it's below the navel, it's illegal. Period. Full stop. The degree to which that's true doesn't matter either. That's like saying "I only shot him in the face a little." Still illegal.
It's absolutely an imaginary line. ie no-one has actually drawn a line. The line doesn't exist. Even the WBA rules that everyone is deferring to refers to it as an imaginary line.

Now go to the WBA rules... Is it the whole glove below the navel or any part of the glove below the navel? Well the rules of every Org or Commission that bother to clarify it are silent on that. Most don't even bother clarifying it - they just refer to it as a "low blow" because everyone knows what a low blow looks like! They all do give a good indication of the intention of the rule though when they say that a fight can't be stopped due to a low blow as the protector is considered sufficient protection. This punch wasn't on his protector.

That punch was **** on the button. Always has been.

We're just living in this 4K slo-mo internet debating ***** era where everyone wants to judge things to the millimetre. FFS, it's a punch to the stomach in the simplest, most natural sport that ever existed. Hit a guy in the gut - it's part of the sport.

We're headed down another slippery slope which will ruin this sport. Thin end of the wedge I reckon.

    Anyway here's your slo-mo replay.

Great shot. Under the guard and right in the bread basket.
