No chances at what? They've gone 4 years now, have a cable TV deal that is rumored to be expanding to a 2 hour show - they have money to sign guys to 7 digit contracts
I don't think they're going to take over the lead like WCW did, but they definitely have a potential to gain ground - especially when the fans' preferences cycle to wanting to see actual matches on free TV...
As long as TNA doesn't get wasteful with their money like WCW did for most of the time, they can survive in this market. I know people who still watch wrestling and are sick of WWE or at least prefer the option of an alternative so TNA fills that role.
I didn't even bother with the show, that's how dissatisfied with ECW I Am now (though Kurt Angle's return and CM Punk's debut may lure me next week...)
Okay - it only took me a couple months but I can truly say: **** WWECW
Look at this ****:
I have a new Tuesday night tradition now. When the new ECW comes on TV, I pull out an old ECW DVD/VHS and watch while Vince wants me to watch his show. Last week I watched Sabu vs. Funk barbed wire match, Dudley Boyz vs. Balls Mahoney and SPike Dudley (Balls through a flaming table!), Taz vs. Bam Bam Bigelow, Super Crazy vs. Tajiri vs. Little Guido, & Mike Awesome vs. Spike Dudley (Spike takes some freakin' bumps!) from the ECW's Most Violent Matches DVD Disc 2. I may have to pull out the old VHS collection tonight - or I still have a fan-cam Hardcore Homecoming DVD (the one from Cleveland, I believe) that I haven't checked out yet...
