That accent you speak on, remember Joey is only 19. The "chill" voice you speak of from 1999 was a young Joey. He said he wrote a lot of it still in high school/in his house from as young as 16.
The accent also comes partly from embracing his background, I believe St. Lucia/Jamaican. I'm only a few days older than Joey, to me it sounds like he's maturing just like I have in the past 3 years.. I dig the sound.
I feel like I'm growing up with Joey, its great. In fact according to his wikipedia page, I'm only 4 days older than Badmon. -
Well, his family is from St. Lucia so I'm sure they all have accents and have rubbed off on him a bit, even though he was born in NY and as Sly said, he's probably embracing his roots a bit.
Side note, I've been to St. Lucia and was awesome!
Anyway, I have his other two albums and I look forward to this one. This kid is a breath of fresh air in the hip hop world.Comment

I hope Christ's Conscious makes the album too as that song is straight fire and far more superior to this. This isn't a bad song it's just a little weird.Comment
