It humors me that so many of these guys who worship all these rappers don't know and don't care about P-Funk.

Everyone of these Hip Hop MC's that get talked about in this forum bow down to big GC and Bootsy.

Hip Hop would no exsist as it does today without the influence from Clinton.

          Good stuff.

It was before your time, but worth checking out. Grab (or download the album "Mothership Connection". That's a good start.

They influenced everything in Hip Hop from square one. Grand Master Flash, Run DMC, NWA... all the way to 90's artists mentioned in the 1st post.

It's unreal how many times you can listen to a hip hop track and pick up Clinton's Lyrics. It's everywhere.

You know Snoop's "What's my name" break out track? All Clinton. That's a sample of a track called "Atomic Dog". That's just one of hundreds of examples...

Ice Cube, Dre and Easy were/are always tributing to P-Funk with their lyrics.

It truely is the DNA for everything Hip Hop.

Two really solid Hip Hop Covers from reccent years you should check out are:

"Let Me Ride" : Dre and Snoop feat George Clinton

"Flashlight (The GrooveMasters' Mix)" : George Clinton feat Busta Rhymes, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Q-Tip

If you anyone downloads those tracks let me know what you think.

They're P-Funk covers, and produced by George Clinton

He's in his 60s and still touring, and yes he still brings it to every show. I saw him twice last year and he had a 20 piece band (two guitar, two bass, two drums, back up singers, Mc's, Soul Chicks) and both times they played for 3 straight hours.

The show now blends a lot more Hip Hop with Funk, but it's a lot of 20 minute jam/groove songs.

It's amazing that with how many drugs George has done in his life that he can still bring it that hard in his 60s.

And he sings hard. It's an unreal show.

If you can catch him anytime in the next few years do it while you can. He won't be around forever.

                Here's his website:

                      No, you didn't work late...

The only reason you didn't respond for SO long is because you were sleeping, because it was night time...

Over here, it was day, but there was night..
We all know you're British, man....
