    Why Illmatic Is Overated ?

    6 songs everything else on that record ****** !!!

    There were only 10 song on the album that's 60%
    That's including the introduction (song 1) LMAO !!!

    Halftime = ******
    Memory Lane = ******
    One time 4 your mind = ******
    Represent = cool

    There were 6 classics on there that are timeless though !!!

    He got away from his roots with It Was Written which was also overated. Even Nas admitted getting wrap in bull**** and letting go of his true self and YOU can hear it in the content.

    It Was Written was made back when Hip Hip was on The Italian Mob's ****. Nas made a decent album but "it wasn't his style". What he is doing now with Damian is more his style rhyme wise.

    DMX " It's Dark & Hell Is Hot" had more classics on it IMO !!!

        How do those songs suck? The lyrical content in those 4 songs alone are light years beyond the accumulation of the skill 2Pac ever put in his entire catalog.

          Commonly regarded as a perfect album short and to the point and generally regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time. You're welcome to your own opinion

            Nobody listen to those songs and think these are some of the best songz ever. People listen because they are told this is the the model hip hop album.

            1. The beats suck, the thing about classics is the music never fades
            2. It doesn't matter the beat sucks lmao !!!

            I intentionally didn't bring up Pac because most Nas fans are basing **** soley on NY hip hop, but you know Pacs catalog is dirtin anybodies.

            I brought up it's Dark & Hell Is Hot because it's a better album ...

            I could add
            1. Twista = Addrenalin Rush 1994
            2. The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick
            3. The Chronic
            5. Marshall Mathers
            6. Scarface = Untouchable / The Diary
            7. Biggie = Ready To Die
            8. Big Pun = Capital Punishment
            9. UGK = Ridin Dirty
            10. 2pac = Me Against The World / Makaveli / All Eyes On Me
            11. Bone = Creepin On Uh Come Up / 1999 Eternal
            12. Outkast = Southernplayalisticaddilacmuzik / Aquemeni

                Bottomline there is no FACT when it comes to personal preference. You're trying to get at me for stating that you are entitled to your own opinion? i dont get it.....was that supposed to teach me a lesson? My opinion is that Pac is overrated and your's is that Nas is overrated. No matter what I say you wont change your opinion and I wont change my opinion no matter what you say. That's that.

                    I'm 30 years old ***** I am hip hop, but I was around when the **** was goin down and Illmatic was not that big of a deal for that long.

                    I'm from Cleveland Oh so I don't care about the east or west **** even though I live in Vegas now.
                    I was reciting Nas rhymes on the school bus before you could walk.

                    Keep it real with yourself

                    DMX = It's Dark & Hell is Hot & Eminem Marshal Mathers are just two albums that are better than that 10 song album Nas put out when I was 13-14. Both albums had at LEAST 10 classic songs on them.
