    Nas

I'm a huge fan and quite enjoyed Untitled, his latest effort. I have a few gripes with Nas that I want to get off my chest though.

I know that he wanted Untitled to sound more main****** so he could get the message of the album to the masses, but the production of the album as a whole is just whack, in my opinion. Lyrically it's on point as always though!

I don't want to see Dj Green Lantern, Cool & Dre or Mark Ronson producing tracks for Nas, their sound just doesn't suit him! On his last album, Hip Hop Is Dead, the production from Scott Storch, will.i.am and Kanye West just didn't match his style either. They might be the hot producers at the time, the guys everyone is bumping, but they just let Nas down. They make good club ****ers and what not, but that ain't what Nas is about at all!

Nas works best with grimey beats and the guys that he needs to get producing more of his tracks are the likes of Salaam Remi, Large Professor, Dj Premier and Pete Rock. Whenever these guys have produced beats for Nas, they have gone on to become some of my personal favourites.

I'd even like to see Nas ask Stoupe, from Jedi Mind Tricks fame, to produce some **** for him or maybe MF Doom. Doom's production can be inconsistent but he can create a variety of sounds and I think he could really hit that grimey sound Nas revels in.

His beat choices are about as bad as Canibus' too, maybe he should hire a guy who could advise him on which beats suit him best, someone who really knows what they're talking about? I say Dj Shadow, he has a great ear for a beat and knows when things match and go well together.

Imagine if Nas followed this set up for his next album! Illmatic number 2 would drop, no doubt.

That's what they usually are, maybe he needs a cool beat and maybe he'll get off that boring style of his.

I dont think he was trying to go commercial at all with this album. I didnt get that impression. There were maybe two songs with that type of feel, and one of those (Hero) worked really well. Matter of fact it's the best track on the album. HHID had more of a commercial feel imo.

I do agree that Nas could have a better ear for production though.

Nas beats being weak is overrated. Most of his albums are fire. And HHID was the best album that dropped that year.

lol yeah but that isn't really saying much. From what I have heard so far from this one it should blow that album away.

Look flat out in my opinion that was a dope album. And that year Game dropped his album Jay dropped an album and Lupe dropped his debut. All solid releases so I think it is saying somethin. In my opinion of course.
