    Voter suppression in Georgia

Ga. bills would end no-excuse absentee voting, automatic registration

********** state senators introduced a package of bills Monday to ban automatic voter registration, ballot drop boxes and no-excuse absentee voting in Georgia.

The proposals amount to an overhaul of Georgias election laws after record turnout resulted in wins for ********s, including Joe *****s run for president and the bids by Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock for the U.S. Senate.

One measure would prevent voters from being automatically registered to vote when they get their drivers licenses. Another would ban drop boxes, requiring absentee ballots to be returned through the mail or at county election offices.

In addition, a proposal would roll back a state law allowing registered voters to cast an absentee ballot for any reason. Absentee voting would be limited to those over 75 years old, voters with disabilities or anyone required to be absent from his or her precinct.

Weve got to restore confidence in the ballot box. When people lose confidence in the ballot box they ultimately lose confidence in their government,?said Senate President Pro Tem Butch Miller, a ********** from Gainesville and co-sponsor of the bills. Our goal is to be sure every vote is accounted for, accurate and legal.?br />
********s said the bills mark a concerted effort to reduce voting access after Donald Trump lost his presidential reelection bid and his supporters made unsubstantiated allegations of fraud.

Its voter suppression. If you restrict access, then people get discouraged and they dont vote. They dont come back,?said Senate Minority Leader Gloria Butler, a ******** from Stone Mountain. We have to make the argument that its a good process. People were able to vote, and they voted in record numbers.?br />
Over 1.3 million people cast absentee ballots before the November general election, about a quarter of all votes cast. Voters embraced absentee voting last year during the coronavirus pandemic as they sought to avoid human contact at in-person polling places.

A poll by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution found most Georgians oppose restricting absentee voting to older voters or those who have a valid reason for not being able to vote in person. The poll also showed that most people support the use of absentee ballot drop boxes, and they dont believe in the thoroughly debunked claims of widespread voter fraud.

About three-quarters of voters backed requiring either photo ID or documentation to be able to cast an absentee ballot, according to the poll.

Senators also filed several other election bills Monday, including a measure to require a copy of a voters ID, a drivers license number or a state ID number when requesting an absentee ballot. That bill is less restrictive than a proposal introduced last week that would have required voters to submit a copy of their photo ID twice, both when they apply for absentee ballots and when they return them.

The legislation filed Monday is sponsored by several leaders of the state Senates ********** majority. The bills will likely be considered for the first time in the coming days by subcommittees of the Senate Ethics Committee.

**********s gained ten seats in the House. ********s are a party divided. The radical faction is trying to push aside the more moderate faction.

**********s highly encouraged ********** to vote, so long as they were here legally and there were no mail-in votes which stole the election.

I agree Team R didn't get curb stomped like the "experts" predicted was likely.

I'd add that I think BOTH parties are divided right now. You got the old school Team D folks vs the new school I agree, but you also got the old school Team R folks vs the new school. That said I do think Team R tends to vote as a monolith & Team D is like herding cats so the edge is with Team R in the Senate even if its split down the middle.

Also of note I think this was the first election a millennial won a seat so we are at the beginning of the end of the baby boomer generation & idk that anyone really knows what things will look like in 20 or so years when the millennials are running sh^t.

**********s are somewhat divided. The RINO sector doesnt want change and certainly doesnt want to risk losing what they have or having the curtain lifted to see what they are really all about.

Today more than ever it will be difficult for any candidate to succeed in a third party, especially without the support of big tech and social media. FB readily admits they did all they could do to influence the outcome of this election. Twitter was right out in the open with it.

The momentum will be in ********s favor as schools indoctrinate young minds and teach them how to be dutiful little socialists for elections to come.

Idk how divided Team R is, but they come together to vote & use language intelligently to push the cause so its hard to see how divided they are. It'll be interesting to see if Trump starts this new party & we see who floats over that way.

I think our future depends on a new party if not new parties. Its completely insane to me you either gotta go with these idiots over here or those idiots over there or your opinion is basically piss in the wind as far as our government is concerned. I think all this SM stuff is temporary & rules will be made in the near future that take them outta play or put others in play to even it out with this sh^t.

LOL I don't think anyone wants to be socialist. The silliest thing you Team R guys do is push that horrible narrative. Granted I'm sure there are some tiny minority of D mfers who want it, but I'm just as sure there are a tiny sliver of R folks who wanna give the rich even more money. All that silliness equals out on both sides & those nutty mfers are in the mini-minority of their party's.

I do think things are leaning D long term doe. Mainly its cuz the ******* side of things has more positive outcomes towards more citizens than the conservative side & people aren't as no fooks given about others as past generations have been.

And in general most of the successful 1st world countries tend to lean more ******* than conservative. Our country is probably like the Iran of 1st world countries lol.

If ********s aren't being blatantly racist "If you don't know whether you're for me or Trump, then you ain't black", then they're parroting soft bigotry of low expectations talking points. In this particular case, they're equating needing a valid ID in order to vote with "suppression of the black community" or some other Sharpton-esque nonsense. Also, Trump got more "POC" votes than any other ********** President, probably because they saw past the media's fear-mongering and actually realized his policies were benefitting them...unlike what Hoebama and ***** did for 8 years.

But hey, ***** is reneging on the stimulus money, reversed Trump's lowering of insulin prices, destroyed women's sports by letting biological men participate in them, signed over 40 executive orders (so far), and is preparing to send American troops back over to the Middle East, after Trump just brought them back. So ********s are going to be forced to live with their deranged decision to vote for a dementia patient as President, and a broad ****** enough to believe the Jussie Smollett hate crime hoax, as VP for 4 years. Follow the Twitter account "***** Voters Posting Their L's Online" to see ********s regretting their decision to vote for Gropin' Joe after just a few WEEKS of him "running" things.

And being solely in charge of their illicit voting districts with non transparent, hackable electronic voting machines?

We're in the 3rd millennium with 5000 yrs of recorded history and laws and wars, and this sheesh show the best U dolts got?

I mean, really now, a million chimps pounding on a million keyboard over a million years could come up with something better.
