The boot camp scene. I graduated from USMC boot camp. Got slapped the **** out of by the senior. Was the bends and thrust king of my class. Senior I feared you, hated you and then I loved and respected you.
I mentioned the Chair Force?to a coworker, whos a Marine. He actually got visibly pissed off and went on a rant with how they didnt do half of the sh#t that he did, and they get the same VA benefits! Hahahahah.

Im supposed to believe that those toys came to life and started doing weird sh#t when people arent paying attention? (Toy Story)
Or that ret@rd Jason Voorhees somehow didnt drown, no one found his ass, he lives on his own for years in the woods, essentially took care of himself, even though he was essentially ret@rded, and never tried to find his mom, then sees his mom killed, kills something like, 20 people in a span of 3 days, gets killed himself, come back to life, and kills about another 100 people?
Those ****** comic book movies.
Even those movies based on true stories dont get it right. ESPECIALLY the sports movies. Theyre exaggerated for entertainment purposes.
Whats the most realistic movie youve ever seen?
I pick Dazed And Confused.
Now, I am too young to know what 1976 felt like, but my dad said that movie was based on his life. And just about every single person I talked to who lived through that time period said that the realism of that movie is insane.
The only thing that wasnt realistic, were the kids having brand new muscle cars. The director said that was what he wished high school was like for him and it was living a dream through the movie.

Originally posted by b morph View PostYES. I read that most Marines agree that their boot camp in those days was actually very similar. Maybe not so much these days, but even still. I have heard that the Marine boot camp is by far the most intense out of all US branches.

I have seen parts of Caligula, and from what I have read about ancient Rome I'd bet its pretty close. I have seen some indie films about junkies that looked pretty realistic, but very depressing stuff. 13 year old hookers getting pimped out by their moms, etc

When you base a movie off of a story that really happened in real life, it is hard to get all of the facts and all of the stories straight, AND, there is usually a part about the story that is ever so slightly exaggerated, for entertainment purposes of course.
Still realistic, but sometimes Im harsh with that stuff when they say a true?story, because if some facts are left out or sometime is made up, even exaggerated, is it really true?
Im being nit picky here, and I am speaking in a general sense from the genre, but you understand where I am coming from?
But Full Metal Jacket boot camp is great.

You saying the cops were realistic?
I dont care how lazy or incompetent people think cops are, but NO cops would EVER act like that and the things they did, would NEVER happen! Not even idiotic ones. That part is far from realistic.
The way the teens act and the overall premise is realistic, a lot of teen comedies and dramas are pretty realistic.

**SPOILER**
The ending with Clint Eastwoods character was false. In the movie, they show the character being taken into custody with a big state trooper blockade. Police helicopter too. Dozens of officers. Guns drawn. Hollywood style. The highway was actually blocked off everywhere. That didnt happen.
It was a routine traffic stop. They pulled him over knowing he was the guy. They asked him a bunch of your typical police officer questions, they detained him first, didnt arrest him right away. Clints character tried to talk his way out of it. Then the police dogs came and it was over.
See the difference? First ending was Hollywood ending. Th real ending was less more dramatic.
The Hollywood ending is still plausible though.
Im rambling. Im sorry.

most films change stories for dramatic effect, but the Mickey ward movie with all its crazy scenes with his mother was all true
