Shaq Buys Boy in a Wheelchair a New House

This paralyzed little boy was unable to return home from the hospital because his house was not wheelchair-accessible—so basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal simply bought the boy and his family a brand new home.

12-year-old Isaiah Payton was leaving a high school football game in Atlanta, Georgia back in August when ******* broke out near the field and a stray bullet hit the youngster in the spine, paralyzing him from the neck down.

O’Neal was just one of the community residents who was particularly heartbroken by the incident—so when he saw an opportunity to help the family, he immediately stepped up to the plate.

Isaiah has spent the last two months in the hospital healing from the incident—but even after recovering from the injury, he was unable to return to his family’s one-bedroom home because it wasn’t wheelchair accessible.

O’Neal then purchased a brand new house for the family in the College Park neighborhood. Not only that, the athlete says that he will be paying the family’s rent for the next year with a little help from Papa John’s CEO Rob Lynch.

“[It’s a] nice area,?O’Neal told reporters from WXIA Atlanta. “We’re going to give her some furniture, TVs and pay her rent off for a year and help her get on her feet.?br />

So he didn't really buy the home? Why is he paying her rent for a year if the home is purchased? Or did he just secure a home for them and they are responsible to pay it off

on the real, i've read a lot of stories of shaq doing good things for others... but i cant help but notice the part where it says he'll be helping to pay for rent for the next year?? so he didnt buy the house? what happens if the family cant keep up with the rent?

Does seem to be a contradiction there.

He has either bought this kid a house or he is paying their rent.

            You can't do both

If you buy the house, you don't pay rent, and if you pay rent you don't own the house.

He bought the house and is going to make them pay rent after a year? That's what it looks like.

Yeah, a boy in wheelchair is more expensive than a dog, but at least Shaq doesn't have to walk him.

He paid a down payment on a house and acted as a guarantor. The rent is the mortgage payments.
