Where have we seen this before I wonder?

That said even Keir has pushed through cutting foreign aid to increase defence spending - whilst senior army officials expect Britain to be engaged in a war within 5 years with a current standing army that doesn't exceed 70,000. They want/need conscription.

I don't think Keir is going to get on too well in Washington. The Orange one is gonna try and embarrass him.

I don't want to hear the words 'special relationship' anymore. Vomit inducing stuff.

Mad time to be alive this, pretty sure most of us will live through a couple more pandemics and a world war.
It’s definitely a strange and unsettling time, and the idea of isolationism in the U.S. seems like it could be the start of a trend we’ve seen before—shifting priorities, especially on the global stage. The cuts to foreign aid while ramping up defense spending are definitely a reflection of broader, more isolationist tendencies, which don’t bode well for international relations. As for Britain, it’s concerning to hear about the pressures for conscription with such a small standing army and growing defense needs. That kind of instability and military strain could lead to significant global tensions in the near future.

As for Keir Starmer, you're right—he’s going to have his work cut out for him, especially in the face of such a polarized political climate. The relationship between the UK and the US has always been a tricky one, and I can see the next few years being a rough ride for international diplomacy.

It feels like we’re on the cusp of some very turbulent times. Let's hope we don’t see a world war or another pandemic anytime soon, but it’s definitely hard not to feel like history is repeating itself in some concerning ways.

'Vladimir ***** would find it difficult to accept a US-backed ceasefire deal with Ukraine while his troops are advancing on the frontline, a senior Russian source said.

“It is difficult for ***** to agree to this in its current form,” the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said. “***** has a strong position because Russia is advancing.”

Russia’s advances in eastern Ukraine, where most of its efforts have been focused, have slowed in recent weeks.

Moscow advanced by 389 square kilometres in February, after advances of 431 square kilometres in January, 476 square kilometres in December 2024 and a peak of 725 square kilometres in November, AFP reported.

However, Russia has made significant gains in the Kursk region, which was invaded by Ukraine in the summer, over the last few weeks. On Tuesday, Moscow said it had taken back 12 settlements from Kyiv.

Meanwhile, another senior Russian source said the ceasefire proposal looked from Moscow’s perspective to be a trap because ***** would find it hard to halt the war without concrete guarantees or pledges.

A third Russian source described the ceasefire deal as a move designed to resume military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine, but dressed up as a truce proposal.'

You missed the point there. Denmark after all that noise of buying Greenland improved their military defense by 2 billion after neglecting it for so long. The US won't be getting Greenland regardless what is offered. Maybe get into some deals but that is about it.

moved closer? the party who won this weeks election want independence from denmark... and the runners up for that matter

'The future government is expected to map out a timeline for independence, which is backed by a large majority of Greenland’s 57,000 inhabitants. The longstanding movement has gained significant traction in recent years after a series of scandals highlighting Denmark’s racist treatment of Greenlanders – including the , in which up to 4,500 women and girls were allegedly fitted with contraception without their knowledge, and tests that have separated many Inuit children from their parents.'

Sounds as if you havent exactly treated them well...

They all want independence. This party is the most pragmatic and wants a very slow road with Denmark and without Trump who everybody labelled not trustworthy. Trust me. I'm a dane.

Defense spending was upped before Trump spoke about invading Greenland.

American money is better off funding separatist movements in Greenland than Taiwan

DC is losing in ukraine and needs a win

the US cannot take China in its own backyard

America’s recent record in the Pacific fought Koreans to a DRAW ROFL and lost to rice paddy farmers in Vietnam

                daneroids cannot fight at all

None of you are going to bring up Russian commandos going through a gas pipe to ambush the ukros?

that drone attack that involved a civilian area in Moscow was to send a message

the West cannot win in ukraine but it can create a “terror ist” problem for Russia coming from ukraine

I believe Russian resolve is high and this drone attack in civilian part of Moscow won’t pressure them into a ceasefire

Really? There was a threat of the US invading Greenland?
