    The russian pilots tried to pull some top gun stuff and collided with the drone.

    did the russian fighter crash too or just damaged?

      All's fair I reckon... obviously the Reaper was gathering intel that could be used by Ukraine, but cos the pilot didn't actually fire upon the drone there's still the (semi-) plausible deniability and it's hard to accuse him of an act of war. Neat.

        From what Ive been reading the US destroyed the drone. Not the Russian pilot.

              No details yet but there's no suggestion that either Sukhoi was damaged that I've found so far. Only thing stated about the Sus is that they're believed to have landed at an airbase in Crimea.

                    Russians say there was no collision...

                    But Moscow says the drone manoeuvred sharply and crashed into the water following an encounter with its jets — which were scrambled to intercept it near Crimea — insisting its warplanes didn't fire their weapons or hit the drone.

                    "The U.S. drone went into uncontrollable flight with a loss of altitude" and fell into the water, said Russia's Defence Ministry.​
