Nearly a third of teen girls say they have seriously considered suicide, CDC survey shows

It's bad, and it wasn't this way years ago. 1 of every 3 teenage girls considered suicide? What type of adults will they make? How will they work? What type of mothers will they make?

If it was 1 in 20 that is bad, but 1 in 3? OMG, the studies on how these people turn out is... well depressing. We have a real problem.

Solely blaming, shaming and criticising is widely accepted as very poor people management in work, sports, parenting.

        Same goes in life generally.

That's a big part of the problem.

Rather than blaming, look close home. How many of us are actively encouraging several of, or groups of young people. Are supporting them, leading them, acting as good role models?

Maybe lots of kids are depressed because yes, cr@ppy parents, but lots of cr@ppy adults around them too not doing much in these regards, and worsening it by shaming and criticising from high horses.

Us adults are shaping our culture's and world. Don't blame the kids solely if they think most of us are building a sh1tty culture.

If we're gonna criticise and expect them to take it on board, be big enough do the same thing rather than acting superior and blameless.

Social media only exacerbates the problem. Everything is a popularity contest, and too many young people hinge their self-esteem on how many "likes" they get or followers and subscribers. It doesn't take much to crush their confidence if they are mocked, ridiculed or bullied online. Look at the poor girl who got assaulted in high school, the school swept it under the rug and the girl committed suicide days later. I'm guessing she was struggling with some other mental or emotional challenges and this was the tipping point, but teenagers seem to be more emotionally fragile than ever before. Why not? The schools and media make it very easy for people of all ages to feel like vulnerable victims. Let's not forget all the psych meds being pushed on children and teenagers, and let's not pretend that many of them come with serious side effects. These powerful drugs are often prescribed by family physicians and without any type of follow-up mental health counseling.

Men more than double women in actual suicide, around the world. Girls are just drama queens.

these girls need to get on boxingscene and get off that fake instagram crap where the girls just fart and get the likes

they join boxingscene, they won't need to see that crap

just look how many idiot racist losers are on here who have been posting since 2009 with 64k+ posts are still kicking, when THEY'RE the ones who should've contemplated/done suicide

I would think teenagers wouldnt get so upset. They have their whole lives ahead of them.

Now if youre a barely employed janitor that isnt getting laid and can barely afford to feed his wife and newborn baby, that would be a reason to off yourself.

At least then the wife can get government aid.

I didn't have a full appreciation of just how volatile teenage girls' emotions were till I had daughters. Thank God the dust usually settles quickly after the explosions.

I also read that 1 in 4 women in the USA is on anti depressants and that was pre covid. WOMEN not young girls. There is trouble ahead and right now. The young girls study however is beyond alarming. 1 in 3 girls think about suicide? Maybe there should be an extra year of high school between sop****re and junior year to work on the mental issues. I'd be for that. Something MUST be done. I fear a social media effect. All it takes is a few girls doing it on media and other girls will follow them.
