Most people have misunderstood. Inquisitors did not become pirates. Those they persecuted did. ***ish individuals who were expelled from the Iberian peninsula became pirates to combat their Spanish oppressors.
It was not the first time the ***s did that in history, actually. The Spanish Inquisition, though Catholic in nature, was a state sponsored activity, so becoming pirates would've made no sense for the inquisitors.
