    Simone Biles

Rehashing something that is irrelevant to you now

relevant to me though because I just offended an entire table of people by bringing her up.

I called her a quitter. That she shouldered the hope of a nation and then showed everyone it’s ok to quit because she wasn’t in the mood. Ohhhgg no. The woke MFers weren’t having it. I had two sonsabitches on my left who never competed in a sport before telling me I’m being insensitive. Had two prrrricks on my right saying what she did was comparable to Ali refusing to go to Vietnam.

Quitting is quitting. A part of what makes an athlete great is their ability to persevere, is it not?

Fortunately for her, that all went down when EVERYONE was frightened for their lives that they might run afoul of the woke mob. She has every right to scratch if she didn’t feel like she could perform, but making her out as some hero made me wanna puke. She stole the shine from our local girl Suni Lee, and was all about the false praise and spotlight it gave her, no matter how cringe it looked to anyone with a brain.
Whats worse was the usual suspects on this site that bent themselves into pretzels defending the little quitter.

If she feels her mental health is more important than performing flips, I'm in no position to blame her.

that girl achieved worldwide fame at a young age, she was actually selfless by taking herself out of the equation and getting her personal life in order

By that age I had won two provincial baseball championships back to back and had established myself as one of this towns best BMXers, if not one of the best.

The BMXing showed me that you take on a responsibility that goes beyond you when you’re a role model. I’d leave my house to ride and by the end, little kids would be following me around on their bikes. I remember being in a grocery store and wanting a Pepsi but buying water because they were watching me. Worshipped the ground I walked on.

If I blew it then it would have warped these kids ideas of what a competitor does. Can’t imagine how big of a hit gymnastics took or sports in general when Simone normalized quitting.

The great athletes are able to over come the mental and physical stresses. Also it is a team effort that should get her ready for such events and back up her colleagues.

I'd have laughed in their faces.

Just a different era. Every member of that 90's "Magnificent 7" squad would have no doubt continued competing, just as Kerri Strugg did with that debilitating injury. Im sure most girls on that team were struggling with mental health issues as well. Especially the mental abuse from Bela and Marta lol.But like I said, just a product of a different culture back then.
