    Are you intelligent?

I reckon most people think they're intelligent and actually a degree of introspection would be needed to call yourself dummy.

So if intelligence is the 'ability to aquire and apply knowledge and skills' the Oxford Dictionary definition - what makes you intelligent?

Or if broadly speaking intelligence is the ability to accomplish complex goals. What complex s.hit are you doing?

I think I am an informed dumb arse.

Under your definitions of being intelligent?
Yeah, I guess so. In business terms, at least.
I currently run a fairly complex European Logistics supply chain - And have the obligatory University Business Degree's to prove how 'intelligent' I am (apparently).
      But I'm not smart.
Wish I was, but I'm not.
I wouldn't need to be doing this stuff if I was smart, right?

I used to be a genius. I was on television in Hawaii in 1970 when I was in the gifted children program that they had just started for kids with high IQ scores where they let those who qualified start public school a year early. I went to college for a year, taking classes with mostly juniors and seniors because of the advanced credits I got in high school at the college prep academy that I went to. Then I was the passenger in a car accident that gave me a traumatic head injury that kept me in hospitals and rehab for over years. So I was a genius IQ until is was 18 years old and then not so much so the rest of my life (I am 57 now).

My tested IQ is very high but that intelligence has rarely produced results in real world situations.

When did you do an IQ test?

Did you pay for it ?

In school, my eighth grade teacher appeared shocked.

Intelligence is subjective. It often depends on what part of the world you're standing in that makes you stand out as either intelligent, ignorant or just dumb as a doorknob. Formal education doesn't always determine whether someone is intelligent, especially if they lack common sense or cheated their way through school. I've made plenty of mistakes in life, and continue to learn. I'm smart enough to get the jokes though, and I believe you can learn something from everyone.

Common sense is the only ''intelligence'' a person truly needs

I think I am intelligent in my particular field of work. Not a brag or a boast, but you do not get to my position if you do not have certain abilities or knowledge of the job. As far as anything else, I would consider myself above average intelligence in everyday life. I am no genius, but I also not an imbecile.
