Apparently at least some of the footage is taken from a video game. Shame though. Woulda made a great story.

Struggling to believe it though, the Mig 29 was a great aircraft for its day but the odds of it prevailing against a coupla Su 35s is pretty damn slim. Whilst the basic airframe designs are roughly contempraneous the electronics are a different generation and the Sukhoi was always the high end model anyway.. Kinda imagine the Su 27 / 35 as comparable to the F15/F15E and the Mig 29 as a rough analogue of the F16A

Speaking of aviation though, RIP Mirya... The triumph of Ukrainian aeronautical engineering and the legendary Antonov works.

This story sounded too ridiculous to be true. The type of stuff people share on Facebook to blindly cheer Ukraine on not knowing crap about the situation.

I understand the ideology behind creating this illusion. To inspire their troops and to instill belief in them that they can overcome the odds. It's not far fetched for leaders to fabricate stories to give their soldiers hope.
