Amala Ekpunobi: Why I quit my job as a leftist organizer

Smart girl. Good story. Glad she's seeing who the real racists really are.

I swear these movements on both sides are like prison gangs. If you look at the California prison system these days, its full of dropouts and former gang members screwed over by their own people. These movements will self destruct the same way.

The Federal government will intervene with frivalous enhancement laws like California did leaving the only people left to fight is each other. This sh.t is cyclical.

Bottom line dont join a gang. Be an independent thinker and take care of those closest to you.

Here is the thing with young people like her----They fail to realize that there are still people around who lived through the Jim Crow era---the victims as well as the perpetrators. You can tell that she doesn't want to be considered black because she finds more affinity with her white side and that is cool, but it is equally uncool to dismiss the other side's experience.

I dislike many things about the left including their lack of accountability and I agree with her on that, but I also dislike the arrogance, pompous and dismissive ways of the *************. However, I think the biggest misconception is people believing the false dichotomy in choosing one or the other.

Can you elaborate? My own belief is that of the old socialists, though I am not a socialist, just agree with them on this point, that it is economic class, and not race that is the primary driver of ignorance. Take the case of Megan the viper Markle who actually believes she can live in a so called racist, repressive, exploitive establishment, exploiting it at every turn, then claiming to be a victim of racism. And her husband, both of whom have resources more than virtually a whole community of poor blacks, yet claim exploitation because they were denied more capital by the source... To believe such entitlement you have to be brainwashed by a class consciousness where you assume things that are absurd.

Most people would agree that a young couple are expected to make their way, generate their own capital, and that if given certain advantages, like funds to start with, that this is a major advantage. It is only class consciousness that prevents Harry and Megan from seeing how absurd their claim to more capital is... I find it impossible to believe that racism, ha the same ability to change perception in this instance.

Almost missed the "bold" because I am using dark mode. However, Meghan has been described by people around her as a social climber. But, additionally, to that, Meghan has been considered what we called "white-passing". I don't doubt for a second that Meghan believed that her status as an actress and her phenotype would make her an exception to racism. I strongly believe she has been navigating the corridors of racism without being seen or singled out all her life and has now run into a closed-door with a big "F you" sign on it in Buckingham Palace. Also, as a social climber, I felt that she has been knocked down a notch when the realization hit her that Harry was not going to be prince over Williams and she was not going to upend Kate.

I say all of that to say this, as a black person, I notice it is black people who try their hardest to fit in always have the biggest victim mentality. Most of us don't care either way; we just acknowledge the way things are and find ways around it to build for ourselves and our family. I am not going to beg a white person or any person to accept me or let me through their doors. I will work twice as hard if I have to, to get my own place with my own door.

Truly... thank you for that insight.

I always harken back growing up in NYC. We were never concerned with race, even when it was an alleged reason for being banked, as in "hey whiteboy" I never thought like this is no fair... and my black and Spanish friends never seemed to care either way. At most it was an excuse to say, or do something, lol. Like when the series roots came on TV, one of my friends might mischievously say " buy me an icy dude, for all those years of slavery."

It just boggles my mind how race has come up these days.
