    first class bad time

So I had my first class 2months ago we did light sparring no problem till we changed partners everything was cool.
This shorter heavier guy starts sparring with me, and I start connecting with him (mind you I'm out of shape and my punches are slow I just saw openings and touched him there so no actual punching just light taps) the guy starts rushing me out of nowhere and going full strength I could only try to defend but he broke my rib anyways...
2 months have passed I return to class and for some reason I'm expelled because I haven't been to class even if I did inform the coach and it was the doctor's order and somehow I'm responsible for getting my rib busted...
Is this supposed to be normal? I don't want to quit boxing so is there anyway to train alone at home?

I assure you this is NOT normal. At all. Christ, they shouldn't be letting you spar a heavier guy in your first class, let alone sparring. This is not how boxing gyms are run at all. I went to a bad gym myself but they were nowhere near as bad as yours.
Switch to a different gym as soon as you can. And props to you for still returning after getting a broken rib. Most guys would never return after an experience like that. But the coach is a **** for not letting you come back. When you say expelled though it sounds a lot like a school. You're better off at a local amateur club. They are much more open and don't expel you for being layed off with illness. They'll probably teach you more too.

Sorry to hear about that. As said above that isn't exactly normal. Switch gyms and be done with it, not worth your time.

Will switch gyms but at the moment there is no gym around with boxing other then that one.
I will be moving in a couple of months to another place where there are several but until then I would like to do something I am starting road work and skipping rope but I would really like to do more (not sure about doing bag work because I could develop bad form) do you think there is anything else I should\could do?
        And thank you :-)

You're in the exact same position as me then! I stopped going to my old gym, which was pretty bad, in June because I wanted to save up for the new gym I'm going to. I move to a different city this weekend for university and there's a good few in my area but I found one in particular that I can't wait to start.

But like you I've been making sure to stay in shape until then. Roadwork is obviously a must but you're starting that. I started doing sprint intervals (changing between jogging and sprinting) and found I'm actually even fitter now. I'd highly recommend incorporating sprint intervals. If you do a couple of miles it should be enough, provided you give it your all. You won't get any benefits unless you commit to it. My roadwork schedule was basically Monday-jog 3 miles Tuesday-2 miles of intervals then Thursday-2 miles of intervals and Friday jog 3 miles. The reason it's set out this way is because of the schedule I'll have to adhere to while at the new gym or at uni but you can tweak it where it suits you.

It's a good idea to not do heavy bag work so as not to develop bad form. I'm trying not to shadowbox too much for the same reason but I can't help myself sometimes. Try to focus mainly on stance and slow jabbing.

I do a few push ups and pull ups here and there. Try and do a few new isometric excercises and stretches to strengthen your muscles and joints. And a good bit of core work will help.

Just keep in shape, do your roadwork, push ups etc.

If you spar before being taught your not in a very good setting!
You said it was your "first time"!
No one spars without earning the right to first by instruction and following the guidelines of the gym first!
Never heard of anyone allowing a new green student to spar it makes no sense.
Find a respected gym that's operated by knowledgeable people!

                Exactly this^^^^^^^

What kind of gym just throws a bunch of first timers in there to spar?

I've seen many times someone coming off the street thinking they were BA and them putting that person in the ring to teach them a lesson. But a bunch of dudes actually learning and throwing them in the first class?

Most places you have to beg to spar.

That gym sounds like one of those some guys back yard operations.

If you haven't been to class in however long then yeah I could see why they would make you pay your dues for the month again.

That said your gym doesn't seem like that nice of a place anyways. They had you step up to live sparring that fast?? Furthermore dude that broke your rib is a ****ing d!ckhead. He must feel like big man beating up somebody that is just starting to learn how to fight. He doesn't get no respect for that. Do that shyt against someone that can actually fight back. ****ing d!ckhead.
