Preparation for my first boxing match

A very unfair loss today in my second match. I boxed vs a taller guy. I had a high guard en tried to box in close distance. I dominated the ring all three rounds and scored more and better clean shots. He only punched on my high guard with a jab and right hand.
My trainer said after the first and second round: ''good job, just keep pushing him to the robes and you'll win easily.'' After the third round my trainer said: ''good job, i'm almost sure you won.''
I lost 2-1. My trainer and trainers from other boxing clubs were very suprised.
I feel really robbed. I'm really frustrated and angry right now.. It felt like I won the match easily because he didn't scored with clean shots, only punches on my high guard. I dominated the middle of the ring all match and I really thought I won..
I'll post the video tomorrow.

No one took anything from you. Other people had different opinions on the bout! Everything you had going into the bout you STILL have now!
What your first goal is when starting to learn a sport like boxing is to do everything you can do to IMPROVE each training session and each bout!!!
When you put in 3 years then 5 then 10 years take a look back and see your progression. Was it a huge learning experience? Hopefully so, if not you'll be gone right around the 24 month period!
If you hang in long enough your hand will be raised in a bout that you lost, yes it will happen if you stick around. As for the next bad call hopefully its a amatuer fight in a gym some where and not a Titled fight in Vegas!!! HA!!! pick your chin up, being mad is ok but don't sulk, we don't like cry babies in boxing!Ray.

Dont get me wrong guys, its not that im finding excuses for the loss. I just had to convince the judges more. Its my own fault. I didnt feel energetic and fighting sharp that day.
Now i feel pretty insecure about myself. A feeling that i fought like **** and had to bring more, even when i gave it all. Im a huge self-criticism.
After the match i wanted to train again to improve my weak points. I want to train so hard now that ill win my next match.

In this sport you learn to move on quickly. Do not stay to content with a win and never stay defeated with a loss. In the end its your opinion that counts and you must be as positive as you can be without lieing to yourself, get it!!
thank you Soju, I thought so too hahaha.............Ray

Hey Guys,
I've got a question. I'm training for my next fight @ 2 november. My currently two most important training aspects are: punching speed and head movement. I found out that I'm punching with too much power, I want to increase my punching speed. I'm training my speed with tabata punching intervals and fast shadowboxing.
I've always got a very hard time sparring against taller fighters. I find it very difficult to open against taller guys. I just can't get across their punching range. For that reason I want to practice my head movement and pop-in / pop-out movements.
Do you guys have some tips for me about these specific topics?
Greets,
Jeff

Your first fight
For your first fight, look confident at all times. Round 1 - Establish Range, Circle outside his jab, be sure to throw punches in volume, not loading up for a KO punch, unless he simply opens up for it (but be sure to protect yourself; he could be baiting you, so feel him out). Aim to win the first round on points by throwing and landing more punches (power doesn't matter in Amateur, so don't waste your energy with power shots in Round 1 bc you're probably not going to knock him out; but rather concentrate on winning the round on points. Remember to BREATHE, Establish Range, Circle to keep the fight in the middle on the ring, and throw volume punches. Round 2 - Start changing levels between light and power punches, constantly moving in and out, throwing punches in combos to the body and head. Start using your automatic combos and counters. Round 3 (Scenario 1: 2-0; Scenario 2: 0-2; Scenario 3: 1-1; Scenario 4: Unknown). S1: Repeat Round 2 Strategy; S2: BRAWL (go for the kill); S3: See S1, but more aggressive; S4: See S3.
