Er, does it have to be 5:30 in the morning?
If the inconvenient time is compromising your hunger to train, sod it.......do your 4.5 mile runs later on in the morning, in the evening, lunch time or at night.
You won't see any more improvements to your running times by running at that hour as opposed to any other time.
My best times come around six o clock in the evening, your more likely to be properly hydrated and carbed up at that time.

BOXING===Disipline! You need to find another sport because getting up is completely on your side of the endeavor. If you need inspiration just to get off your butt in the morning your in for failure!!! Boxing is an individual sport so asking for help with something like your road work is pretty weak. Sorry to be so blunt but theres all kinds of routines and scheduling that can be done theres NO excuse to miss anything that has to do with conditioning. Ray.

Sometimes you might just need some rest if it feels like you're really sluggish. Happens to me sometimes, my legs will just feel heavier, I'll feel like sleeping in (but won't, so I stay fatigued).
Boxing wise though...it's sometimes said that when you lose the drive to run, you should hang em up. It's part of the lifestyle. You don't have to be absolutely in love with running, but when it starts feeling like a chore, maybe look into other options for a bit to get your mojo back. Maybe run a different route, find a running buddy, do it at a different time of the day, etc. Some people swear by running in the morning on an empty stomach, others after being hydrated and having eaten during the day.
Keep your head up.
