I am trying to cut some weight. I do have a little extra and definitely can cut down some. I am 5-8 1/2 - 5-9. I currently weigh about 173. I would like to fight 152. Do you think a sauna suit would help? Any thoughts on them?

Sauna Suits?

Sauna suits should be a last resort no more than 24 hrs before a weigh in. Because all you are losing with them is water weight, so for them to be effective, you need to take back in minimal food/water, so therefore they are only to be used the day before a weigh in, because if you are in a dehydrated state for longer than that, it can really mess you up. In fact being dehydrated at all is not good, hence they are a last resort.

just train without anything that up your body temperature so high, it's both inefficient and dangerous, unless it is monitored
like the poster above said, use it as a last resort. sauna suits help you lose water weight, but the tire you faster. training intensively with a sauna suit shouldn't be longer than 30 minutes, which is too little time for someone to burn enough calories (lose body fat)
if your only goal is to lose weight, drop down the normal weight. you can lose up to 15 pounds of water weight with suits + albolene/sweet sweat, but since it's just water, you'll replenish it in no time

If you decide to get one, make sure its not a cheapo one from Walmart. One good workout and you'll rip it out! I recommend the Realsauna suit at SuperSaunaSuits.com. Yeah, its pricy, but its specifically designed for athletic use, and its the only machine-washable sauna suit made. Don't use it the day before the fight or you'll be so dehydrated that you won't last 2 rounds. Stick with the proven power drinks like gatorade.
