    Best weight for me?

Hi, i'm currently 144.4, i only had one fight at 152 which i won but i feel that i'm much faster and hit harder right now. I'm fast, have good head movement, footwork and i have decent power but i feel that i lack physical strength for 152. I'm a pressure fighter against weaker men whereas i use my slickness and counter punching against stronger opponents.
I can't put on more muscles because i depend on my speed big time, if i lose my speed, i'm in trouble.

Do you think going down to 141 would be a good idea? Will i lose my speed advantage against smaller dudes?

    Thanks for the answers.

you should fight at the weight u are now or ur natural fighting weight

dont try n change weight because of strength or w.e, fight where u feel comfortable

See everyone is different. Right now I weigh 205. Fighting, 170. But if I REALLY REALLY wanted to try. And this is without weight draining my self. I could probably get to 145-155.. I just don't feel like buying new clothes or putting in that much time to get that low of a fat percentage. Plus I love food.

Edit: oh and the reason I weight 205, is because I broke my femur, but I am finally getting back into cardio.

Go as low as you can possibly go where you feel comfortable. There is a fine line between being able to survive at a lower weight class and being able to fight well in a lower weight class. How tall are you by the way? not that it matters too much considering that, I've seen some really tall people fight extremely well in weight classes they should have no business being in.

I'm 5'10, i've never been under 141 pounds yet but i've lost a lot these last weeks. With coffee and fruits, i think 141 won't be a big problem but like other posters mentioned, being weight drained can be very dangerous(ex: DLH vs Pac).

Just make sure you eat well. Personally I'm 5'8 and weigh about 150 right now with a full stomach and all my water weight in one day I can drop about 6 pounds (mostly water) so that means I should be about 144 and I still have a good amount of fat on me so I'm considering dropping to 132 if I eat well and do tons of cardio. The point is it can be done if you go about it "slowly but surely". When people say weight drained in the amateurs its usually due to the fact that a lot of people take it easy during training and then when it comes close to fight time they start cramming and they say they're weight drained. Of course they are because they strained they're bodies in a short amount of time and did not let their bodies get accustomed to the weight. You're trainer should know your body type better though definitely.

losing 3lbs the day before a tournament? You will be fine as long as you hydrate properly after.

Just fight at whatever weight you feel comfortable at. I started boxing around 2 years ago and weighed around 145, now I way 170 and feel sharp and strong. Whatever weight you choose to fight at you will be fine as long as you give your body time to get accustomed to it. When I was putting on the weight I was slow and even though I didn't have excess fat I felt I was dragging myself around, now I feel fine. You probably felt bad over 150 because your body wasn't used to it.

i'm not a boxing expert, but i'll put in my 2 cents

just fight at the weight where you feel most comfortable. don't strain yourself to cut weight or gain weight, it's best to fight at your natural weight

find a balance between the muscle and speed, i think 141 would put too much of a strain on your body

See, the idea is to fight at your natural training weight for normal fights, and then for tournaments take off a safe amount of weight to fit into a smaller division. Ie: Fight around 144-45 then drop 3 lbs to fight at 141. 3lbs is nothing btw, that's like eating lightly for 2 days and maybe skipping dinner the night before the weigh in.

Because if you fight at 152 at tournament weighing in at like 144, you are gonna be up against guys who could potentially outweigh you by more than 10lbs when you get into the ring.
