He's waiting for you to throw so he can counter. So you pretend to throw and then defend his punch and fire back.

You feint a jab, he throws a right hand, you slip it and throw a left hook.

It all takes practice, so if you're just starting don't worry that you can't deal with them. There's pretty much no counterpunchers in amateur boxing when you're just starting out.

im assuming they have better footwork and are faster then you so you gotta corner them. cut off the ring and use your jab to close the distance. once you trap them then start unloading. go to the body to take away their legs.

I use to have the same problem, I could hit them, but they usually hit me harder.

Don't let them be the one putting on pressure. If they're putting pressure on you, they will make you feel as though you have to throw a punch and that's the beginning of the trap.

Take the middle of the ring, constantly feint, and throw more than one punch. Or just pot shot and hold.

One more thing... "Double the fucking jab Viet".

Sitting back on some counterpunchers and forcing them to come at you can really **** their rhythm up sometimes. I fight as a counterpuncher myself and in my last fight the boy sat back on me and only occasionally lead, using his faster hands and feet to get off and get out before I could counter. That's another thing, if you are faster than a counterpuncher and are able to move swiftly in and out with your attacks you can sometimes avoid the counter.

Right Cross is 100% right, i just watched the Prince vs Barrera yesterday, and Barrera just sat there boxing him, waiting for Prince. And Naz's rhythm was just not there.

You have to be patient, and draw him in
