    Starting boxing as a beginner

Right, you go to a gym smack the punch bag tell the coach that you wan to spar and if the coach thinks you're good enough then he'll arrange amatuer fights for you. I think thats how it works, but after that how do you get the attention of a promoter?

Go to a gym tell them you want to compete.

After a while once the season starts they will arrange fights and such, having alot more wins than loses would help and having a higher KO percentage.

        But mainly winning tournements.

You look at people like Kostya Tyszu who had about 200+ amatuers fights and such and then you look at Marquez who had a amatuer record of about 34-1.

Marquez won the golden gloves tournment twice i think and Kostya had a lavish amatuer career, but look at them now or what was.
