First Time I had Ever Spared

Well Today for the first time ever after about 2 1/2 months of Training My trainer finally put me in the Ring to Spar . Well as we were practicing i was practicing like **** atleast thats how i felt. After about 1 hour or so of push ups and hitting the bags my coach told me we were going to Spar,

I was a little nervous at first so when the bell rang i didnt really throw any punches till i got hit then i went at it. Hit him quite a bit of times witch i was proud of cuz he has a year more experience than me and is faster hes a light wieght im a heavy wieght. 2 nd round i threw more and had him in the corner hiting him till i backed off then i threw a few more and he ended up throwing up witch had never happened to him. Over all it was allright but im still gonna work at it. Anybody else got some first time experience in sparing. Share em Plz. Thanks----------------------FRANK The TANK

Thats how it is at my gym to. Frankly there just aren't enough people with experience enough to spar to equal out weight. I am light-welter, and today I sparred with a super-middleweight, a super heavyweight, and a bantamweight.

      Nice story, keep at it.

what kind of gym is it...?

that sucks, at my club we have alot of teenagers around my weight, and the top amatuers at our gym, and if theres no sparring at the club, we go to los angeles for sparring

I don't know about you guys but when i sparr, heavywieghts, lightweights whatever (i'm welterweight), we don't go all out. we work on technique and we aim for fast light punches rather than hard punches. if someone gets trapped in teh corner, we don't throw too many punches but throw at a steady pace until the person can figure a way out. And for the last 30 seconds, that's when we pick up the pace and just go all out. but for the rest of the time it's really light. We go on with this for 8-10 even 12 rounds... but by the 10th, even touching gloves makes are hands drop....ahh those sparring sessions are the best haha.

I remember the first time i sparred, **** scared and nervous, couldnt breathe properly, got in the ring, got the **** knocked out of me, got out, went home and was in the gym two days later. . I was sparring today, got in the ring with confidence, sparred 4 different guys. Felt comfortable with my breathing and landing shots but as i got out i realised how dry my mouth was and needed a drink rele quickly cause i thought i was going to be sick. Not sure why but i felt good in the ring and thats al that realy matters to me

My first time, I got outsped and made to look silly by a 122 pounder.

Now I am 5-3 in the ams and am good at sparring, and feel very confident and calm against most people in the ring.

Yeah being calm is important to me, let them get worked up, and just slip there punches and come back with the hook works nearly every time
