Chris Byrd was an incredible boxer, who had fantastic wins against David Tua, Evander Holyfield, and Vitali Klitchko. Those three were knockout artist's. He could take a great shot too, in his heyday. He looks terrible, one of these former champs are going to get seriously hurt trying to regain their former glory.

Classy guy. Being in shape is not the same as being in fighting shape. best of luck to him.

There are several discrepancies here. A month or more ago when he announced he was making a comeback as a middleweight, he said, POSITIVELY said, that he'd had BOTH hips and BOTH shoulders replaced.

Now, in this article , he is more informative and more "uncertain" as to what replacements-if any- he had. Here he says that the doctors informed him he needed his shoulders and HIP replaced. But after the treatment with Aaron, "all that changed". I assume that to mean that he did NOT need to have his "shoulderS and HIP replaced".

So what are we to actually think. I always liked Chris Byrd, too small, but as brave as a lion.
He'd fight anyone no matter how ferocious, and his unusual style helped him enormously to frustrate the vast majority of his opponents. BUT there was one thing I didn't care for. He was a religious maniac. And I'm afraid that he has this mania even worse, although he doesn't mention it, like he ALWAYS, when in the sport, made SURE that he publicly affirmed his devotion etc.

It's unnatural for 50 year old ex-fighter who had some VERY tough battles, to have come unscathed out of them, mentally I mean, This is what I feel is going on, he's come to allow his "faith" to help him " figuratively move mountains. He's even far more "upbeat" than he used to be, when he was in his prime. So there's something wrong.

If he fights in a 50 and over circuit, well, maybe O.K....maybe....??? But under no circumstances should he even dream of getting in with even a mediocre middleweight. He might go 3-4-5 rds, but how good are his arteries and heart, how good are his lungs, how good are his legs. His mind, I KNOW is not good. And I'm deeply sorry, because I felt good about him years ago. His bravery touched me, and now I think he has mental problems.

Match him lightly and let him slowly ramp up to one serious opponent who doesn’t have power to worry about.

Matters on what it is he wants to accomplish. A fight with Sergio M would be a nice test for both dreamers.

If someone gives him a license.. its practically murder. Byrd is weak as a kitten and looks like a 87 yo Hopkins.

                    Maybe he needs the money.

If he passes the med tests, which I'm sure he will have to, then what can the sport do ?
