After the dirge of the K Bro era the last 2 or 3 years have been a breath of fresh air for the HW division, we've seen more entertaining HW fights in that time than we did in the previous decade, there's still a long way to go, but at least there's some real excitement around the division for the first time in a long time.

I'm really enjoying HW at the moment and there's still so many good fights to come. It's definitely underrated but that happens with most sports and this era matches many previous ones.

        Joshua vs klitschko
        Fury vs Wilder
        Whyte vs Chisora
        Chisora vs Takam
        Wilder vs Ortiz
        Whyte vs Parker
        Haye vs Bellew
        Bellew vs Haye2
        Joshua vs Parker
        Joshua vs Povetkin
        Klitschko vs Fury

Let someone go back to after that klitschko fight and top10 was probably:

        1 Tyson Fury (England) 25-0
        2 Wladimir Klitschko (Ukraine) 64-4
        3 Deontay Wilder (USA) 37-0
        4 Alexander Povetkin (Russia) 30-1
        5 Anthony Joshua (England) 17-0
        6 Luis Ortiz (Cuba) 25-0-0-1
        7 Bermane Stiverne (Haiti) 25-2-1
        8 David Haye (England) 28-2
        9 Kubrat Pulev (Bulgaria) 23-1
10 Joseph Parker (New Zealand) 20-0

Now klitschko, Stiverne and Haye have dropped out with Dillian Whyte, Jarrell Miller and Takam; with Usyk likely to be knocking on the door of Pulev shortly.

For me that leaves a number of great match ups still to happen both at top end and across the top ten!
There have been some damn good heavyweight fights the last couple of years. It's been quite nice!

Not even close. Nobody watching the fight last weekend could make this claim. Watching wilder swing and miss wildly against an out of shape, powerless fury will make you quickly realize these are not the same caliber fighters than 90s and even 00s produced.

Its becoming more interesting, but idk that I'd say its underrated quite yet. I think its moving along forward & higher as it should. Tyson beating Klistchko was the beginning of this new era. Joshua scoring an exciting W over Klitschko continued it. And maybe last Saturday was the first big fight between tip top guys of this era, but I think we are still in the beginning stages of this era showing itself to be fruitful or not so much.

IMO Fury contributed to 2 things that will become boxing canon anyway and were momentous in terms of the sports history when people look back and that will be ending the Klitscho era and opening up the division for the next era to begin and that Wilder fight which would have been momentous even without the last round drama with the fact he actually made such a comeback. That alone puts it above the prior era which had nothing stand out other than the brothers dominance. Joshuas W over Klits will be defined better when he furthers his career. At the minute it's not clear to see how it will stand in time compared to the other 2 moments.

I agree that the 60s-70s era was the Mecca but not those bums in the 90s wilder, fury, Johnson, and even jarrell miller would have their way with those 90s bums.
Yep, Johnson especially. Johnson would wipe the floor with Lanox, Hendrix and Myson in one night!

True about the MMA HWs, the least talented division BY FAR in any combat sport. It's a new sport so most of the guys competing got off the couch one day and decided to be an MMA fighter rather than loving and breathing the sport like a lot of boxers do.

The Heavyweight is about to enter a great age, maybe even another Golden age.
I feel bad for the people that don't enjoy the moment.
20 years from now people are going to say those Heavyweight's don't compare to the Heavyweight's of today. That's how it goes.

You have the current top three in Joshua, Fury, and Wilder.
Followed up by guys like Whyte, Ortiz, Miller, Parker, and Povetkin (has a few more fights) among others.
Prospects like: Joyce, Yoka, Hrgovic, Dychko, Ajagba, Jalolov (all 2016 Olympians by the way) among others. It has been a while since there was so many talented prospects coming up Heavyweight.
Finally, you have a P4P talent like Usyk coming up.

All of those guys won't be greats or even HOF's, but let's not act like all the boxers from the 70's and 90's were great or HOF's.
