How much longer does Manny have on his contract with Top Rank and should he re-sign

I've heard it ends this year but Im unsure of exactly when. I think Manny should not re-sign with Arum and finish his career under the GBP banner or as a free agent so he can get the fights he really desires.

He has stated he wants to fight Mayweather before his career is over, and even hinting at possibly moving down because he is really a 140 or possibly 135( which is a bit much in my eyes)fighter.

Imagine Manny fighting Garcia, Matthyssee, Maidana, Thurman, Malignaggi, etc. all winnable fights and the cash out fight with Mayweather.

Top ranks stable at 140-154 is horribly thin at this time. He wont benefit at all fighting Alvarado, Provodnikov, or both Marquez or Bradley again

I just dont see him benefitting from staying with Arum.

I agree he should fight Floyd, but even if he doesnt and remained a free agent, he can fight anyone he wants. No cold war ties and his name carries clout in the boxing game.

He doesnt really need a promoter. He is an international icon, a hall of famer, and all time great. He needs a new business advisor or something. Get with a guy like Haymon that will get him the fights and money he wants.

Pacquiao has become a once in a generation type fighter, and given today's economic climate and resources he doesn't really need a promoter in the traditional sense anymore. Like other sports, the game has evolved and fighters of his caliber, whom have transcended can choose to operate under their own terms...but it's up to him.

If Pacquaio choose to resign with Arum, then it will be more about being protected in the ring than maximizing his earning potential. All TR clan offer him are soft touches, unless Arum and Schafer hash out their personal issues.

If he re signs, it shows he's not to desperate to fight Mayweather.

He did say he planned to resign but until he does put pen to paper it is not a done deal and things can change quickly.

As for what he should do, he should explore his option and see what is out there for him, that is how he would get the best possible deal even if he does end up staying put.

At the very least he should leverage his pending free-agency into a ridiculous contract with Top Rank. Top Rank should be paying him just for the right to have their name on his turnbuckles, not the other way around.
