Is David Haye's retirement good or bad for the HW division?

So, as we all know by now, David Haye had extensive surgery on his shoulder over the last couple of days and has been advised to retire after 23 years in the sport, amateur and pro.

For those of you who don't know, this guy has been plagued by injuries since his amateur days - something that kept him out of several international tournaments prior to him turning pro.

After he moved up to heavyweight, more or less everyone felt it was a breath of freshair to have an english speaking heavyweight with a knockout punch and a brass lip turning up, especially after he finished Bonin in a round and followed it up with a good performance vs Monte Barrett.

For all the promise and excitement, his heavyweight run has been a disappointment. From the promise of knocking out the Klitschko brothers, to the embarrassing fight against Audley Harrison - The guy failed to deliver.

We now have a new batch of exciting heavies, something we haven't had in a few years, in the fury's, pulev, joshua, wilder etc.

But is David Haye's retirement good or bad for the division? Are you glad to see the back of him? Would you have liked to see him fight on regularly?

    What are your thoughts?

Was really looking forward to haye vs fury but shet happens its a shame cause we could have judged how good tyson fury really was after that fight.

haye's conned me more than once.

if he's not fighting i don't care about him. i care about him when he's fighting to the degree that i must be interested in the third best HW on the planet.

i feel bad for fury in all of this. fury squandered some of his prime thinking he would get to fight that joker.

It just separates the Klitschkos from the rest of the division even more. Haye was the only one who stood a chance against either of them really

            Both.

Bad because I believe he had the talent to compete with the Klitschkos. He had the best chance of anyone out there of beating them. There were some big fights out there involving him.

Good because he's a con artist. A salesman. He wastes everyone's time with ****ty fights and fake injuries. He's heart is not in boxing, he uses it as a way to become a celebrity. Therefore he'd probably never have the conviction to go out and actually beat a Klitschko. He'd be happy collecting his cheque and laying another egg in the ring.

he clearly did not. all he had was power. that's literally it. he had some speed, but he does not use it to win boxing matches, certainly didn't against wladimir. maybe he's "competitive" with 40+ year old vitali, but he fought a prime wladimir and embarrassed himself.

In terms of natural talent, he had the attributes to compete with the Klitschkos. More so than any other HW out there.

He lost to Wladimir not because of a lack of ability but because of a lack of conviction and belief. That would always hold him back. He didn't care enough to go for it.

if he had the chin and the "ability," he'd go for it. where'd his lack of belief come from? he said HW jabs hurt like cruiserweight right hands. he didn't have the ability to take them.

that's a silly notion, that haye did poorly against wladimir only because he didn't try hard. why was he terrified of wladimir? why wasn't he terrified of the bums he's beat at HW?

he did not have the talent to compete with the klitschkos. union jack tinted glasses. khan lost to garcia because of a lucky punch too, right? same lucky punch that almost knocked matthysse's eye out of his socket?

it's clear that haye tried to stall his career out to get a shot at an aging vitali. anybody who can't see that isn't looking hard enough. he wanted a huge payday and a 42 year old with a 10 year history of serious injuries.
