Just blame a lot of fights that fall through on Turki at this point. He started out with a **** but his lack of understanding the sport is finally coming to light. Fighters will take MINIMAL risk going forward in limiting the chance of blowing a Turki paycheck. The problem is, Turki is allowing fighters to either skip lines or still be rewarded for lackluster performances.
The massive paycheck should have been the carrot at the end that the fighters had a chance to get by facing dangerous competition. Not simply staying undefeated or winning against opponents nobody wanted you to fight.
Turki and Dana White are pairing up, no? As much as I think Dana is a crook, if he can bring the methodology of the UFC to a new boxing league that is backed by Turki's money, then this is how things should turn out in the long run. Fighters will have to fight in order of the rankings with zero skipping or cutting allowed, as they work their way to the top. Only 1 belt per division and I think boxing gets turned up on its head. The only push back I can see are the existing promoters and organizations not liking that and offering some kind of alternative payout to keep them from going over.
