    Inoue fought a…….

    very good fight today.

He kept the pressure up and kept throwing hard punches for the whole fight. Tapales had his moments and landed hard jabs, some hard body shots and the right uppercut. He kept his guard up good, but Inoue eventually broke through with his vaunted power and Tapales just couldn’t take it in the end. He fought a great fight but Inoues conditioning is superb.

Inoue gets big credit from me for taking some hard shots and adjusting his game. He went flat footed to see how hard Tapales hit when he couldn’t land clean. He used the jab for a little while and then went back to throwing hard combos which eventually broke Tapales down. Inoue is a great champion. Only Inoue and Bud Crawford are the only undisputed 2 division champions in this era and I’m glad to be able to witness greatness from these two great fighters.

Inoue wants to go for a 5th undisputed title at FW. That would be monumental if he can achieve that.

    FW’s beware…!!!

Good breakdown. Inoue had to dig deeper into his bag of skills than usual. Credit to Tapales. He really took most of the shots on his guard, and did the right thing investing to the body. People are pretending he's a bum, but he's a 2 division champion, and the MJ fight was a very good win for him, beating an undefeated champ with multiple defenses, including against two former champs.

Don't know how people can't be impressed by knocking a tough champion out through his guard in a division up. Not like Tapales didn't come to fight and win, unlike some we've seen.

And I bet Inoue will stick around and fight the top guys like MJ and Nery rather than ducking them and losing his belts like other undisputed champions this year. He's never ducked anyone in his whole career and has always fought the best available guys, unlike Canelo, or even Bud or Haney. The only thing the haters can do is try to crap on his opponents, but they can't do a credible job of that because they don't watch the lower weight divisions and don't know anything about the fighters in them.

Well I wouldn’t mention Bud and “duck” in the same sentence lol, but good post.

I was glad to read that Inoue plans to stay in the division for a while. It will be good to see some defences before he moves on to 126.

If Tapales was a heavyweight, only Usyk would be a competition for him.

Wasn't calling Bud a duck. More referring to Canelo and Jermell and Haney. Bud at least has a contractual obligation that prevented him from fighting his mandatory, and that mandatory should have been dealt with years ago by Spence. But Canelo sure looks like he's going to duck at least one of the Davids and only fights one mandatory a year, Jermell dropped two belts and hasn't made any noise about regaining his belts, Taylor dropped all his belts, Haney could be said to have avoided Stevenson and Tank. Inoue and Usyk are the only ones really fighting the required and important fights of the 4 belt undisputed champions.

Also, people don't want to give Inoue credit because Tapales was such an underdog, but don't want to mention that the ONLY reason he was such an underdog is that Inoue is such a dominant champion. 25 months ago, before he made his divisional debut, people here were happy to pick Fulton to win, as the consensus best guy in the division. People were perfectly happy to say that Tapales clearly earned his win and that it shouldn't have been as close as a split decision. I didn't see a single person who thought there was an argument for MJ winning. Tapales wasn't an underdog because he's a bum; he was an underdog because it's hard to envision anyone beating Inoue.
