Taylor Impressed, Still a Bad Stoppage

It can't be denied that Taylor was dominating throughout his bout with Edouard, but I have a real problem with the stoppage. Edouard's beat known for coming back from the brink of defeat against Gibbs, and the ref, Ray Corona, stopped the fight the first time he got really hurt. Ok, so it's not likely that he would have upended Taylor, who was putting on a helluva show, but come on, that was poor officiating.

What would you have had the ref do instead?

He was on the ropes and Taylor was punching his face in. He was gonna go down or get hurt really bad if the ref didnt step in. He didnt even try to fight back and got hit in the face hard more than once. He looked pretty rocked by the 1-2 that Taylor gave him and he dropped his gaurd. He can protest all he wants, but I bet you he was in the back thinking to himself thank god the fight was stopped or he would be KTFO.

I disagree with you. Edouard was in over his head, no way was he going to fight his way out of the 3rd round. Edouard has never fought somebody with the skills and power of Taylor. Did you see that one huge left that Taylor landed when Edouard got backed into the corner right before the stoppage? When your head looks like a ping pong ball bouncing all around your in no position to continue fighting.

I agree with much of what you said and I also agree with ref's decision. I personally don't see it as bad officiating.

it sucks for Edouard, but it's better to be safe and stop the fight a little early...this way Edouard leaves the right w/o brain damage and maybe gets a rematch with Taylor later ( if he wants one )

BTW, ispayer that spider in your avatar rules. spiders rule, what other animal has sailva that is necrotising

So would you rather have the ref from the Hopkins fight? Haha, that guy let like 100 illegal moves go. Noobs...

I bet that you would argue that this was a bad stoppage as well.

larry merchant is a **** to everybody in after the fight interviews, that's what he's there for. so everybody can be shocked and offended at what that colorful old drunk said to whichever fighter lost that nite. i gotta admit the drunken bastard does make me laugh though
