I get the feeling team Kessler are unwilling to surrender home advantage, despite what they claim. Most of the fighters mentioned would be unwilling to go to Denmark. Froch might be up for it though.

Which can't take place any earlier than late summer after Dawson signed up to a rematch with Tarver in March.

Hasn't Kessler fought in Wales and Australia?

Hopkins is in the same position Calzaghe was prior to the Jones fight... he wants maybe one more fight and that's it

he wants to avenge his loss to Joe or at least beat a name and get one last payday

there's a good chance he won't even fight again aswell

Kessler is not established enough to be a realistic opponent for B-Hop right now... plus what does beating Calzaghe's left-overs really prove

There is nobody else Hopkins can fight who is better than Kessler. Dawson is probably the only one and he is unavailable until at least next summer. The rematch with Calzaghe is a non-starter, nobody wants to see that fight again and Hopkins has less chance than he did first time round.

What does Kessler bring to the table? He took a very embarrassing loss against Calzaghe. It takes years to recover from something like that. There is no reason why the American fans should be interested in him and no reason for the promoters to get him a big fight.

Yes. And in the US. And in Germany last time out.

But who is established enough then?

I think that if Hopkins KO's Kessler there's a good chance (perhaps the ONLY chance) that Calzaghe will fight him again and consider it a challenge. Challenges is what Joe feeds off.

Embarrasing? Did you see the fight? It was an excellent technical display. Keep in mind that Kessler didnt spar before the fight and entered the ring with a broken hand. That makes Kessler's performance that more commendable.

The hand was surgically repaired afterwards which prompted Kessler's 7 month lay-off.

Embarrassing? He was competitive with Calzaghe for most of the fight until the late rounds. He did that without resorting to using headbutts and clinches. After the loss he regained another super-middleweight belt soon after, proving he is no shot in the pan. Kessler has earned a right to fight Taylor who has only one fight at supermiddle and he shouldn't be shunned by promoters or fighters alike.
