the Joppy fight was kind of a lousy choice, but on the other hand the guy has fought pretty decent competition. Berrio was someone who easily knocked out Yusaf Mack and Robert Stielglitz, and the Bika win is pretty overlooked. Bute beat Bika more impressively than Calzaghe imo, and Bika is one of Calzaghe's top 10 wins.

Pavlik is a good strong MW with a decent punch, but all this all time great, murderous puncher BS im not buying, he is a accumulation puncher who wears his opponents down unless of course you dont have a chin to begin with like locket those types he gets out of there even faster. But i would like to see him in against kessler i said it once and i will say it again as sooon as he meets someone who is able to take his punch hurt him and back him up he can kiss his title good bye because he can only fight one way coming forward he is a basic on dimensional fighter who will be exposed sooner or later, and i think kessler will be able to back him up and hurt him.

Loew is very much correct. Joe is scared of Pavlik after what he saw what happened to his stablemate. I felt like Enzo thought he had a really good shot with Lockett beating Pavlik. After seeing how 1 sided dominant it ended, he was in shock and definitely doesn't want his son in there. They used Lockett sorta as a measuring stick because I clearly remember Calzaghe mentioning afew times they were thinking of Pavlik because he only wants American fighters and it would have to be big, and what bigger than the undisputed champ? Well I guess that all means nothing now that Pavlik is still undefeated and has knocked out his buddy.

Thanks for underlining why Pavlik would lose against Calzaghe, adding to prior posts. Because he relies on power punches, which Joe's proven he can take. Mitchell said the punch that knocked down Joe was the hardest he'd ever hit a man, not as powerful as Kelly but measurable when it's the hardest ever shot connected on a mans face. Joe got up within seconds pretty much un fazed to knock him down and then TKO. Kessler a big hitter, connected some lethal hard upper cuts on Joes chin which didn't trouble him much at all. I have doubts a MW Pavlik hits harder than a massive SMW, let alone more powerful. It'd have to be what say 20% more powerful, and landing much more often than Kessler managed, and with Pavliks straight shots, not much movement, not as good boxing skills that's unlikely. That's painting the best scenario for him.

Joe Calzaghe, 45-0, SMW and LHW #1, fought and beat a dozen world champions, fought in the US, Germany and Denmark, unbeaten in nigh on 20 years amateur and pro is SCARED of Kelly Pavik? Some people are just ******ed I guess.

Jones is the bigger payday - that much is indisputable. And there'll always be that young contender (albeit 2 weight divisions below him) who he could face .... there'd be someone else after he'd make Moby look the one-dimensional slugger he is, Dawson perhaps or Froch or Bute or whoever happens to be on the rise in 18 months time.
