with how inactive Kessler has been and plus his next choice of opponent, I consider him the #1 at 168

But i would like to see him in against kessler i said it once and i will say it again as sooon as he meets someone who is able to take his punch hurt him and back him up he can kiss his title good bye because he can only fight one way coming forward he is a basic on dimensional fighter who will be exposed sooner or later, and i think kessler will be able to back him up and hurt him.
But it remains to be seen how the dutchman deals with kellys power if he can take it he will beat pavlik maybe even by ko, but there is no one in the MW divsion who will really be able to test pavlik in my opinion and bob arum needs to be tested for drugs and an overdose of bias to suggest pavlik is the best MW he has seen is absolutely ridiculous and blasphemous, and is nothing but arum trying to keep his cash cow happy with false flattering words.
kessler's danish.

I felt like Enzo thought he had a really good shot with Lockett beating Pavlik. After seeing how 1 sided dominant it ended, he was in shock and definitely doesn't want his son in there. They used Lockett sorta as a measuring stick because I clearly remember Calzaghe mentioning afew times they were thinking of Pavlik because he only wants American fighters and it would have to be big, and what bigger than the undisputed champ? Well I guess that all means nothing now that Pavlik is still undefeated and has knocked out his buddy.
He's never said he thought he'd lose to anyone for that matter, called confidence. He's never ducked anyone either no matter what subjective crap ppl invent and exaggerate out of nothing. Infact he begged his promoter to get a fight with the most dangerous guy in his division, whom is likely to reign in it after he retires (if ppl let him) and likely beat Pavlik or Hops sometime.
He does this because he gets more motivated and performs better the more he's challenged, and the more dangerous his opponent. This he's also said several times openly, it's when the situation, fighter, conditions and odds are not so much in his favour he's performed his best, examples being Eubank, Lacy, and Kessler to name a few.
But no no, people instead decide to take the ignorant subjective, simplistic excuse route of, he must be ducking Pavlik for an easier fight. Despite per above, everything pointing to the contrary, lol. Even if he was, which he isn't, is it such a big deal, it's not like he's doing a ODL rematch, or facing Alfonso Gomez, to name just an extreme few examples.
Arum's a hypcocrite of a promoter, and only interested in money, and yes, more so than other promoters. He tried to negate Calzaghe's win over Hops and future fight with Roy, by saying, these guys are old and need to retire, let the new guys take over, lol. Yet there's others at the top around they're approximate age, and only this week he's said he's considering putting Pavlik against Hops, and people take him seriously when he contradicts himself like this. He's shown he'll say anything to suite his side, much like many ppl whom take this same silly view.
People are wrong to take Enzo of all promoters (cracking as he is) seriously, when he said Kelly would have trouble with Lockett. Lol, when was the last time a trainer or promoter said with any weight he thought his guy would lose? It's hype talk you idiots. Enzo's renown for it as much if not more than the next guy.
People are ****** to think it took Lockett being beaten by Pavlik to make Joe realise how good he was, lol what a ridiculous convenient view to take. He's long known of Pavlik, watched him, and has long admired his abilities, saying he's his 2nd preference in a fight many a time, hardly ducking. He's openly said he thinks he's a step up to high for Pavlik, saying with respect to Lockett. i.e he knows Lockett is even lesser of a boxer and expected him to lose as badly, he's not totally biased or at odds with majority opinion you know. It was also a hint at Pavlik needing better boxing skills, bigger name, more ring intelligence. He thinks he'd win easily, as many whom consider styles with any weight agree. It would be Lacy/Kessler all over again, he's another that's if anything even more stylistically perfect for Joe to take a few hard knocks on his tough proven chin which similarly powered Kessler couldn't knock too much, and take yet another UD.Last edited by Kris Silver; 06-17-2008, 04:22 PM.

Why Calzaghe Is Afraid Of Pavlik Explained
Pavlik is a murderous puncher. To quote Pavlik, "people dont realize how hard I hit until they get in the ring with me." People dont think Pavlik is a murderous puncher because he's a skinny white boy but those who have fought him and boxing purists will tell you that Pavlik has punching power as follows:
1. Training Methods - He trains for power. Heavybag, pushing through the 18wheeler tire, hitting the 18wheeler tire with a jack hammer builds explosive knockout power. Not muscle PHYSICS the motion of his punches are grooved for power.
2. Technique - Pavlik's punches with leverage. From his legs, torso, proper balance, knees bent and at the end of his punches. PHYSICS + LEVERAGE.
3. Accuracy - Pavlik practices his power shots on the double end bag for accuracy. Most people use this to develop accuracy with the jab.. he uses it to develop accuracy with his power shots. So his power shots are hitting their mark i.e. the temple or on the chin. For evidence of this look at the punches that knocked out Jermain Taylor. The first right hand connected perfectly and the finish was SURGICALLY brutal.
Not only is Pavlik a murderous puncher but he is surgically accurate with his power shots. Because of his physical appearance (lack of muscle tone and physique and average foot movement) you dont see it coming. There is a reason Taylors head bounced back and Gary Lockett "laid down" make no mistake about it. Thats why Boxing Purists like Bernard Hopkins and Calzaghe are not calling him out. Pavlik hits HARD.. VERY HARD and with surgical accuracy.

Joe Calzaghe, 45-0, SMW and LHW #1, fought and beat a dozen world champions, fought in the US, Germany and Denmark, unbeaten in nigh on 20 years amateur and pro is SCARED of Kelly Pavik? Some people are just ******ed I guess.
Jones is the bigger payday - that much is indisputable. And there'll always be that young contender (albeit 2 weight divisions below him) who he could face .... there'd be someone else after he'd make Moby look the one-dimensional slugger he is, Dawson perhaps or Froch or Bute or whoever happens to be on the rise in 18 months time.
Scared indeed. FFS.
