Whats going on with Ricky Burns?

This question might have been asked already! But what's going on with Ricky Burns Or should I say what's going wrong!?!

His last outing against Alexandre Lepelley was terrible at its best over eight rounds.

Is Ricky now a spent force? After watching his last performances I found it quite frustrating to watch. I believe that he still has it in him to become world champion again, But it seems to me there is a mental issue with him IMO.

His mind doesn't seem focused at all.. There's no snap in the punches and the timing is off, He seems to be switched on but lacks the confidence in his ability?

Do you think his move to camp in Essex is working?

    He was never that good.

Gift decision against Beltran, Got whooped off Gonzales who then retired from the fight quite bizarrely to be honest, then lost his other 2 fights before the last one.

He has had a couple of decent wins but in general he isn't that good and never has been.

Ricky has been in some tough fights over the years and he was big at his previous weight. Father Time may be catching up with him.
I don't buy this he was never that good. Boxing fans are fickle though

Lost his confidence badly since the broken jaw.

Combination of what everybody has said. I do think he was fringe world-class at one point.

The Gonzalez fight, he was getting outboxed, but turned it up, and started putting it on him, and made him quit.

I thought he was doing well against Beltran before breaking his jaw very early in the fight - you gotta give prps for him finishing the fight in that condition. But it's gotta take a toll even on the mentally strongest boxers to suffer such a painful incident.

Despite clearly losing against Crawford, I thought he had some good rounds, and actually won 3-4 rounds. Certainly did better against Crawford than anybody else has.

But he's always had a style that relied defensively on a simple high-guard to absorb shots - never had much head movement, and upper body movement.

I think he's done at the world level, but he could pick up another decent win against a top 10/fringe top 10 opponent.

Rickster has certainly declined in his boxing performances since
the Jose Gonzalez fight. And I know he was devastated when he
lost to Dejan Zlaticanin in that WBC Lightweight Eliminator. Even
if Ricky Burns had won that fight close, realistically he would have
been able to defeat a "prime" Omar "Panterita" Figueroa? No, Omar
would have beaten him the same way that Terence "Bud" Crawford
did and if quite possibly via a knockout. I know that Eddie Hearn of
MatchRoom Sport was trying to convince Ricky Burns to fight at the
domestic level and take on the winner of John Murray-Anthony Crolla
I think that should be Ricky Burns next opponent. I don't know where he goes from here he's been a great champion throughout his career.
